Newbie saying hi! I thought I had posted a similar thread in the general forum but it seems to have not posted. I am very new here and am not at present owned by a yorkie. I am hoping to rectify that sad situation very soon by adopting a 6 year old in need of a home. His name is Willi and I am just waiting for final approvals and reference checks before he can come to his forever home! So while I wait so very impatiently for his arrival, I thought I would join here and try to learn as much as I can about them. Even though I have dine a lot of research already, I feel that learning is a lifelong endeavor and so here I am! I look forward to getting to know all of you better and very much to Willi joining our family!!!

Welcome to YT!! You will find here, answers for most of the questions you could possibly come up with, from people that have experience in soooooo many areas! Congratulations on your pending new arrival to your family! I like to always recommend a couple of books that I have found a never ending source of valuable information for you about Yorkies...."Yorkies For Dummies" is the first one, and "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" is the second one. You can get these on Amazon.com and they will really add to your Yorkie library! Again, welcome to YT!

Thank you! I do have pics of Willi but am reluctant to post them until I absolutely know he is mine! The poor woman running the rescue seems to be totally run off her feet and hasn't had time to process anything yet although she assures me that I am an excellent candidate for Willi. I have to say that trying to rescue a yorkie has been very frustrating. I have been researching this for some time (over a year) and now that the final decision is made I just want it to happen!! Waiting is pretty painful! Willi is six and was apparently rescued from an abusive home...not sure from where. Apparently someone tried to de-bark him themselves ....so he has an odd bark...and his teeth were not card for so he has to be neutered and have his teeth cleaned and his vocal chords checked out but I'm not sure when this will be happening. He was about 3.5 lbs when the rescue got him and they had to wait until he was four lbs before the surgery could be done and he only just made it there. I am hopeful that he has no other issues as I'm not ready at this time to care for too much of a special needs dog....or at least to start out that way....but we shall see. We currently have a wonderful border collie, two rag doll cats and three female rats and are very much looking forward to Willi coming home! If I could, I would have ten of them!! I am going to have to be careful to control that!! LOL!
