| research on cost for nutering Hello to all I am trying to find out what the cost of getting my mail (toy) yorkie nutered. Has anyone had this done to there male yorkie. Actually, I guess if you have a female and had her spaded I would be interested in finding out what it costs. I image it would be around the same price range. And if anyone could recommend a get vet for this proceedure, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Catherine |

First of all, you're a funny girl! We need some of that north-of-the-border humor around here! I really don't have a clue what it costs. A young healthy male with a simple neuter should be about one of the least expensive surgeries around, I would think. Only one word, I would make sure all of his baby teeth are out before you go ahead with the neuter. If he retains some, they can be pulled at the same time and you'll only have to put him under once. They have low-cost clinics here in the US that are advertised in local doggie newspapers and at pet stores, etc. You will need to find a vet you trust at any rate, so I would call around and ask about prices, etc. If you have friends with dogs, ask them about who they see. Nice meeting you and good luck. CJ PS (I think neuter is generally less expensive than a spay, but not sure about that.)

| Thank you CJ, for your reply. You gave some good advice. Didn't realize anything about the dogs teeth and being nutering as something to think about. He is 8 months old. I will have the vet (when I find one) to take a look. I only had one dog prior to this little guy, many years ago. Unfortunately, had a bad experience with this vet when my dog got old. Won't go into to details, but he screwed up big time. Guess, it would comfort me to have someone who's dog has gone through it and it was a good experience for both owner and dog. Catherine |

I'm not a vet, but it's been my experience that this surgery is very safe and simple and they breeze right through it. Make sure your vet is up to date on the proper anesthesia to use. There's a gas that's used now that is very safe for toy breeds. CJ

| Cooper's neutering and 4 canine teeth removal this week was $200. They cleaned his teeth for me at no charge while he was already under. The price did include the pre-panel blood workup as well. I'm in south Louisiana. Lisa

| Thank you Lisa for replying. Sounds like $200 is a good deal. Hopefully I can get as good a deal. Catherine |

| I just got logan done....it was $60 for the neuter, $15 for office visit, & $15 for rabies. He didn't need any teeth pulled, but my vet did check. At 8 months all his baby teeth should be out so if he still has some the vet should pull them. Getting a dog spayed is quite a bit more than a neuter. A spay is a more evasive surgery, the dog has to be under longer and they have to go deeper to remove both ovaries. In a neuter they make a small incision down by the little bits and press lightly on the sac. The little bits pop out and they remove them. It's really very simple. Once asleep the surgery takes under 5 minutes. Your dog should not have to stay overnight. Most vets allow them too, but you don't have to let a vet keep them. Sorry if post is too graphic.

| Hi there Cathrine39 - I am from Windsor, ON. And my little guy was neutered today, along with being microchipped and having three teeth pulled out. Most of his teeth had fallen out, but those stubborn canines just would leave, and his poor adult teeth were starting to grown over top of them. So, like another person menitoned, try and time it so that when they go in for his neuter, that if he need teeth pulled they can do it without having to put him out again. It will be less stressful for him and cheaper for you too. To break it down or you, my bill was a total of about $330. The neuter itself was $195.50, then I had them do a pre-surgical anesthia test which cost $30, then his microchip was $75 (quite expensive than other vets, but I wanted it done while he was under so that it wouldn't hurt him), then his teeth were $2 each, plus gst. I had cheaper vets around me, but I wanted his regular vet to do the procedure, because he knew Deegan and I trusted him too. I hope I gave you some help. Good luck with your little one!

| Also,, I had the regular incision way and the Laser surgery way,, I opted for the laser it was easier on him, ( nothing but the best for my boy! ha) Anyhow Im thinking ,,,, its been 8 months ago,,,, I think it was $100.00 for the reg. way,and $140.00 for the laser,,, he was microchipped also at that time and that was 30.00.
