I just saw an ad on Petfinder in Toronto, for Yorkie pups. She is asking only $50 and has a male and female.
I have no idea who this person is but perhaps she just isn't able to care for her dogs any longer.

I am a breeder and that price waves red flags.
First, are they AKC or purebreds?
Most likely not at that price.
That is ok, all pups need good homes.
Does the person have the parents?
Is there proof the pups have seen a Vet and have
started their shots?
Just ask yourself reasonable questions, you can make a good
judgment.
Also, if it sounds to good to be true, most likely it isn't so.

I found the ad:

Cute Tea Cup male and female Yorkie Puppies For Adoption To Good Homes, they are Akc and vet , potty/house trained , comes along with all micro-chipping documents they are cute babies with doll faces called Haily and Eddie and takes to advice and instructions .Love able dog free to goods home!! they have gotten beautiful brindle coloring, and weight 3 .1ibs and 3.2. they are neutered, has all their shots, love able, friendly, very well trained, great with children and other dogs. they needs a place to live with a large yard to run in, I can no longer keep them due to moving.they are akc and vet and will make a very good house hold pet, they are potty/house trained and will make a good companion to you.they comes with a health guarantee and in their crates and all documents they ever had. so if you are interested in adopting them contact me as soon as possible for more and delivery on the babies called Haily and Eddie.

Here are the red flags..

1. Poor english (probably out of the country..Nigerian scammer)
2. AKC reg. and they are from Canada..probably they have this posted all over the place and have put that in the ad because they see that is what people are looking for..but if they are from toronto they would most likely be CKC reg.
3. Brindle colouring?? Yorkies are black and tan..not brindle..they probably scam with other breeds too
4. Selling due to moving (they will probably tell you they have already left the country to do missionary work and will ship the puppies to you..they WONT!!
5. They say they will "deliver" please dont fall for this..they will deliver nothing but heartache after you mail them money..and you wait at the airport for dogs that never existed in the first place.

I emailed this person too...I can almost guarentee she/he will tell me the things I have just told you..Ill post their reply as soon as I get it..

I don't think you get spammers placing ads on Petfinder. Rather, the spammers will respond to ads that are placed. At least that was my experience when I placed an ad looking for a home for my cat. I got all sorts of weirdos responding.

Actually they come in different ways.
Mainly advertisement, from South Africa.
I don't mean to correct you Mochasmom.
But I have seen Ads as well.
Mainly selling a puppy, requesting Western Union with no intention of
shipping the pup.
I live in Southern Calif and whey come in different ways.
Here if you Advertise your Puppies you have to be extremely careful.
Some thieves will actually come to your house, rob you and steal your animals.
Including the parents.
I always tell other breeders or those looking for puppies be careful.
Ask alot of questions and interview several times over the phone. Get their number and call them back, several days later.
Check out the addresses etc.

I would wonder though...wouldn't any kind of real breeder (from proper breeders to the backyard kind) want to at least make their money back on the vet visits, shots, microchipping etc even if they weren't interested in turning a profit on the sale of their dog?

Also, how old are the pups? It says that they have been neutered but each weigh less than 4 pounds....my vet recommended 6 pounds or more for spaying/neutering, and for the age of 6 months min. for small breed dogs.

I say it's too god to be true. Unless the pups really exist...perhaps to be rescued?

maybe it's an elderly person that was maybe given the pups and finds them too much work. Doesn't sound like a breeder to me just someone with 2 pups to get rid of. I dunno.

as you pay the $100 you will have the two babies home.
