Angel Omg We Can't Wait !!!

My aunt and I can't wait for tomorrow. I found a beautiful 3 year old Yorkie. Her mom is terminally ill so she must let her little girl go. I'm going to pick her up tomorrow afternoon. I'm so excited about adopting her. I could use some advise as to how to make her new move as easy as possible. Anyone have any ideas. She has been living with her moms sister for 3 weeks. I'm afraid this new move will very stressful for her. The good thing is that she will never be alone as one of us is home all the time. I just want to minimise any trauma for her. Any help would be appreciated. I have so many other questions as to proper grooming, best brush, and so on. also how much should I let her roam around the house as she will have the run of the house. My aunt is a young 89 year old who I have never seen so excited. I just hope I can sleep tonight. Any other help or ideas would be very helpful !!
Thank You
Greg

You never can tell how a transition will go...just take your time and have lots of patience...there isnt a sure fire way to tell you what to do with her...you will have to just play it by ear...there are lots of great threads on here about brushes and tips..if you use the search bar up top you will find lots of info...make sure to post lots of pictures of her..whats her name??

That is so wonderful! I'm sure you will love having your new pup!

I don't want to scare you, but I want to make sure you're prepared. Every transition for a dog is different, but when we adopted our 3 (now 4) year old girl, she ran away. She was so scared she just took off and we didn't find her for 24 hours. So I would suggest keeping her on a leash at ALL times until she is comfortable with you. It might also help to put a baby gate at all the doors. Now Maddie is fine with us, but those first few weeks we didn't let her out of our sight!

I hope the transition goes smoothly. Best of luck with your new girl!

Congratulations. I would just give her time to adjust at her own pace. Being someone is home all the time she should adjust fairly quick. Megan has a very good tip as she knows first hand with bringing in a 3 year old. I know she will bring you and your aunt many years of joy.

Best wishes to you and your aunt on your new furbaby. Just let her take her time and roam around. I'd close most of the doors to your rooms at first, so she has a general area that she can get use to before she has to face the whole place.

Dog Ginger's first eve

Ginger lived 75 miles away, so it was a bit of a ride to get her. I left early in case of traffic and arrived an hour early. Lucky for me there was a PetCo right there. Wow, I'm thinking about buying stock in PetCo LOL. A $150.00 latter I was on my way to Ginger's house.

I was greeted by Ginger and her step-mom. She was hoping around the yard and playing with her toys while we discussed her and her history for awhile. Then her mom called her and she came (good sign). She handed Ginger over to me, she wasn't to sure about me at first, she has always been around women most other life. Within a couple of minutes she relaxed and allowed me to hold and pet her for about 10 minutes. We put her in her crate buckled her in the backseat and off we went.

About half way home she started to moan so I found a quit place and took her for a walk in case se needed to relieve herself. (she did really well on the lead) but didn't go. So I put her back and off we went. I guess I didn't latch the crate properly because in about 5 min she was out and on my lap for the rest of the ride.

She has been on my or my aunt's lap ever since. What a great Day and I have never seen my aunt so excited and happy. She is a young 89, I think this is the best thing I could have done for her. All and All I couldn't have asked for more.
