San Francisco Weather Hi everyone. I was just wondering what other yorkies do in the SF area when it rains? I just moved here in SF from Los Angeles and I didn't know it was always cold and damp. Are there any indoor playground you guys go to, to play with your pups? And how does your pup eliminate outside? My Coco is being trained to potty outside, but when it gets too cold and wet, she rushes inside does her business inside. I have to re-train her all over again to pee in the wee wee pads because she pees by the front door when it's cold. I want her to pee in the kitchen but she gets confused. Poor thing.

Hi Alma - welcome to SF! Unfortunately there's not too much to do about the weather - if you want, send me a private message - we have a group of Yorkies in my building here in the East Bay and they get together to play inside. All of them are trained to go on pads - that is probably your best bet. Treats are the best way to do it. Good luck!! -Michelle

Hello Alma and Welcome to YT. Am not from SFO but my whole family is and so am there for the holidays (without my furbabies though ). I think SFO is still better than WA as it snows here I am sure you will get used to the weather and it sure does NOT always rain in SFO.

Margot - that looks great! My situation is that I live in the East Bay, and that's where Buddy is...so I'd have to go get him and bring him in. The other issue is that when he's around a *lot* of dogs he gets really wound up - he's much better in smaller groups. The rain is a bummer right now - but it should hopefully clear up soon! I'm trying to put something small together for Sunday - that's the last day I have before the holidays kick in...

I just checked their website! I better go soon, before Coco gets too old. He has two weeks before 18 weeks is up!

Bunjee is both indoor and outdoor trained since I've had him as a puppy. But Bubba is a rescue and outdoor trained. On cold days, they each get a coat and will hurry up to do their business outside then rush back indoors. On rainy days, I wait for a break in the rain then take them outside in their raincoats in the break. There's a few dogruns near where I live. I'll usually take them out to play then they get to come back for a bath!

Hey Alma, I have 4 months old Yorkshire Terrier, and I truly understand what you’re going through. We love pet, but being a responsible owner, we need to make them learn about how to deal with weather. I would suggest you to cover your sweet pooch with warm clothes for protection and as we cannot change the weather, and you cannot keep your yorkie inside always during winter, take it to a professional dog training school in San Francisco. I have been taking services of Cali K9 San Francisco from last 2 months and my Yorkshire really loves this place.
