| My Lady has been diabetic for eight years. It is a very easy disease to diagnose. High blood glucose is almost always diabetes. Was bloodwork done? What was Bella's blood glucose? |

| I'm sorry, I don't know too much about diabetes in dogs, but I would assume like people with a well rounded diet and regular management it can be well controlled. Wish you the best.

| Diabetes in dogs is relatively easy to manage, and if she does have it there is no reason to believe she will have a "less than" life. Have your vet run a blood panel, that should help clear up the what ifs. And if you aren't feeling right about it, you can always get a second opinion. |

| My Jax is diabetic as well. A great place to learn is the diabetic pet forum in Yahoo. I have learned a ton about the disease and everyone there is so helpful.

| Thank you Lisa J & Ladymom for the websites. I will definately be reading as much info as I can find but it always helps to know we are not alone. Tia is only 5 years old so I have a long time of treating her disease. |

Lady was diagnosed when she was only six year old. The key to managing her diabetes for me has been learning to test her blood glucose myself. Abbot currently has a special offer for a Freestyle Lite meter with 10 test strips absolutely free. Even if you don't get brave enough to home test for awhile, I'd recommend taking advantage of the offer so you have one on hand. Free Meter, Live Access & Co-Pay Savings for People with Diabetes - MyFreeStyle.com Please feel free to pm me if you ever want to talk. I know it can be overwhelming to deal with diabetes at first, especially doing the injections. | |
