Reputable breeders care about their puppies. They care about if they are breeding a dog that is breedable, and the future homes of the puppies. When they pass their pups on to a petstore, they have no idea who the future parents of this puppy will be. Not to mention, the puppy more than likely isn't getting the same upbringing that he/she would if she was still with the mommy vs. in a petstore cage. Also, if the breeder doesn't care about the dogs, they more than likely don't care about whomever buys the dogs (which could be you). Then what are you going to do if your in a situation like Megan? I'm not trying to be a b**** or anything, I just want you to realize that no matter how clean or nice the managers and owners of the petstores are, those dogs in the petshop do not come from reputable breeders. These people are not in the business for the sake of the dogs, they are in it for the $$$ they'll bring home at the end of the day.

| My yorkie Chewy is from a pet store... He has been healthy from the day I got him. I think he is beautiful, I have people private message me to ask for his breeder because they like his coloring. He has been the best dog ever... no problems... A breeder is the best way to go so you know the history of the dog you get. Buying from a pet store might support a puppy mill and that is something you wouldn't WANT to do... How ever, if you fall in love with a puppy from a pet store... and it seems healthy, and they give you time to take it to a vet to get checked out so you KNOW it's healthy, then go ahead and get that poor baby. All dogs need a home and I will not let anyone tell me other wise. I would not walk away from a baby that needed a home if i wanted it, & could afford it. I understand how many of you feel about petstores, and I don't want bad feelings here... but it is unfair to tell people not to buy from a pet store. Every one can do as they wish... This is one of those things where you can look at it from different view points. Save a puppy? support a puppy mill? I for one do not think puppy's in pet stores should sit there and rot to make a point about puppy mills... They want to be loved... they need it. I hope no one is mad about his, but it is how I feel and I will not change my mind.

| well if no one bought the pup at the store it would not just rot. If no one purchased it, even after the price dropped they would then give it away. ans the puppymill + pet store would make no money and think twice about breeding more. The puppy would find a good home, yorkies are just to damn irresistable. And just because a Vet checks out the pup does not guarantee the health of the pup WHATSOEVER. Leg Perthes disease Liver shunt Luxating patella Collapsing trachea Heart troubles and many ect..... are all things that would not show signs of until many months after purchasing the pup. Your best bet is to buy from a breeder that knows their lines, and gives their dogs great living conditions. I really hope that when people ask you where you got your dog you are not permoting pet stores. |

| I promote a good home for every puppy... like I said in my post a breeder is the best place to get a puppy... but it is not the only place. How about blood test... doesn't that rule out certain illness??? I thought it did. Many people get their yorkies from breeders they think are great only to find out they are sick... or have some sort of problem. I'm not trying to get people upset about this, but it's my view and you will not change it...

| I am sorry but you are being nieve. If you actaully got to see what these poor dogs are going through you would have never Ever have bought from a pet store. I suggest you do a search on puppymills and those sites will show you pictures of the living conditions there. Small cages, feces everywhere, being pregnant practically your whole life. Why dont you go back to that pet store and try to find out where your dog actually came from. |

| yes i agree puppy mills are terrable !!! yes i agree when buying from a pet store might might just might help a puppy mill BUTTTTTT its not the bABY yorkys fault i think of it as saving a baby yorky that has had terrable life so far. i think a better way to stop the puppy mills is through the courts . when i see a baby yorky in a pet shop i want to save that baby more then anything !!!! poor baby deserves a good loving home so it can forget the terrable pupy mill. please tell me how that is wrong? |

I just have one problem w/ this kennel....I didn't give them enough time to find anything else wrong, but I saw THIS on their site and it really bothered me. It sounds like a wolf in sheeps clothing. They sound like sweet people and may be knowledgeable, but if that's the case, why the heck would they post something as stupid as this about our breed on their site?? "Weight: Tea Cup: up to four pounds Toy: four to six pounds Standard: six to ten pounds" That's misinformation on our breed and what one should come to expect. Maybe I'm taking it out of context. Maybe. I think those interested in purchasing from this kennel should visit the site, click on Yorkies and read for themselves and decide. Don't get lured in by their "These are angels from heaven/gods creatures" tale. Sounds good. Don't look good. | |
