Default Tiger Kennel under new management?

Now that the kennel is under new management, is it doing any better?
Just curious since that is the kennel closest to my current residence.

Default My Experience with Ace Yorkies aka Tiger Kennel

Well, well, well, where do I begin? I purchased my second yorkie from Tiger Kennel in January 2008. I found Tiger Kennel through the Recycler on the internet and chose them because I wanted to see the puppies (listed price $800). I spoke to the nephew of the breeder and told him approx. what time I would be arriving to see the puppies. He seemed to have all the appropriate answers and allowed me to walk around. Of course I fell in love with a puppy and purchased her. I was given food, Nutri-Cal, shot record, and her "papers". The first couple of days were great but I think it was the third day, I noticed the puppy was very lethargic and had diarrhea. I called the breeder and he advised me the puppy was probably nervous and if it continued to the next day, take her to the vet. Well that evening she started vomitting, so I immediately took her to the emergency vet because it was the weekend. The vet tested her for parvo and it was positive. The vet was very optimistic because he felt we caught it in time. So the puppy stayed at the emergency vet and they immediately started the IV. I contacted the breeder the next morning and told him she had parvo. He was very surprised. He said to bring him back the puppy and he'll take her to his vet who he has a contract with and has had very could results. I said only if the hospital felt she would be strong enough to move. The hospital advised me she was strong enough, but she had to be taken to the next vet immediately and continue with her fluids. We picked up the puppy and immediately transported her to the breeder. I was very encouraged because she was a lot stronger than the day before. He promised me he would take her straight to his vet. He gave me the name and number of the vet and said I could call or visit her any time. So the next day, Monday, I went to visit her and she was sooo weak. The vet mentioned she had just gotten there that morning. OMG, I was so upset. I called my husband crying and told him to call the breeder. The breeder said there was a mix-up; he took her to the other vet who then took her to that hospital. The next morning, I called before I was going to visit and they advised me my puppy passed away. I couldn't believe it. My husband started dealing with the breeder because I was so upset. The breeder said we could pick any puppy he had as a replacement or get our money back. He said none of the other puppies had any symptoms. I really wanted a puppy. . .so I chose a replacement, and he also gave us $250, which was half of our emergency vet bill. So after sanitizing our home with bleach and throwing everything away that belonged to the first puppy, we brought home Molly (after taking her to two different vets for wellness check). Now, after a few days of having Molly, I noticed she had a little potbelly and her poop was kind of loose. I contacted the breeder and he gave me a list of different things it could be; one being worms but she had been dewormed. Well, my husband took her to the vet and requested she be tested for worms and she came back positive for round worm. Arrrgh! Molly will be 7 mos. on the 14th and we've had no other health problems. As for the registration, it is that purebreed database or something, which I didn't even bother with. And I was told about the uncle having cancer and the aunt taking over and the family giving him puppies to help him out (because apparently other members of the family were breeders also).

My searches regarding parvo and round worm always lead me to Yorkie Talk. So shortly thereafter I registered as a YT user and have since learned so much.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Cry Me either

I've seen the different websites listed and their ads from Puppyfind and the Recycler and it TOTALLY looked like a puppymill to me IMHO. There was just something about it that made me suspicious. I'm glad I didn't go there. So sorry you all had to experience that.

Hi, I noticed the post and must say that although Mike does have many dogs-- it is certainly not 50. Also, the new name was probably because is under new ownership. Last time I spoke to him he was very ill, and looking to sell the business. I bought a maltese puppy from him about 3yrs ago, and came back last Summer to buy another maltese, this time a female. She is beautiful, when I bought her she was shaved (Adult) but had the most precious eyes. I returned again to buy a third maltese, this time she looked a little odd (Adult female) she was shaved as well-- but once the hair has grown it looks more like a Chihuahua mixed with Maltese.

Now, regarding the prices, I have to admit- it is not his fault that people are willing to pay so much for a furry new friend. Quality is not based on how much you pay. The first two I got great deals, but he did got me on the third dog... ah well. Sucker!

Tiger kennel is clean, super clean!

Have you ever seen pictures on the Kennels in Virginia??? the dogs are kept in metal crates -- feces is hosed out once a week - the dogs are malnourished. When a puppy is born with a congenital defect, they either kill it or sometimes keep it for future breeding. I will have to find the link to share the conditions of a puppymill. Tiger Kennel does not look anywhere close to to that. Let keep things in perspective. Yes they have many dogs, but whose fault is that?

Supply and Demand.

Sad Follow up on Tiger Kennel

So I must share this, wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

I got a letter from AKC telling me that my dogs Pedigree has been placed on "referral", I guess what this means is that someone just recently filed a complaint about Tiger Kennel or one of their registered Sires.

Now I must say, that Mike holds a very special place in my heart, I had talked to him only a few times and had bought several dogs from him.

Now, going back to the AKC issue. Well it has affected me since my dog Sired a litter, I kept a puppy and cant register it. According to Tracy/Referrals my dog and the whole family tree gets their AKC registration cancelled. (Revoked). I called AceYorkies and they said they have not received any letter about DNA being questioned-- he will speak to Mike's wife (fyi- you prob know this but Mike passed in Feb08).

So after asking a bunch of questions, AKC reps told me that the other dogs AKC certifications is on hold as well. Some people may not know it yet, perhaps if they try to transfer ownership it will come up. Now, not all dogs are affected, only the ones fathered by the mentioned in the complaint-- which Im sure its quiet a few.

any how, is anyone else getting this letters???

Question Ace Yorkies formally known as Tiger Kennel Concerns

Hi, I am writing to seek any information/concerns regarding this breeder. I recently purchased a yorkshire terrier from this kennel and within a week Oliver has passed away. I did not have any type of autopsy done on him, he was only three months old and I felt I should let him go in peace. However in his honor I would like to ensure the safety and welfare of his fellow terriers being bred at this kennel. I have am doing research and forwarding information in hopes that someone could investigate and make sure this breeder is following appropriate measures to ensure the health and well being of these dogs. Nothing can bring my dog back, I only had him for a week, but words cannot explain the bond you feel when you receive your first puppy...you just fall in love. I do miss him and I know he'll always be with me because I did have him cremated so he is always with me. Enough of my story but I am asking for all your help, if you have any information, concerns, stories that you'd like me to include in my research please email me at vanduong813@yahoo.com. P.S. All yorkies are registered under the Certified Purebred Database in Florida. AKC does not register them even though they are listed on aceyorkies.com. I am in contact with the Kennel Club and will post information as I receive it. If you have info, again please contact me. In honor of Oliver and all dogs that have past, let's join together to help ensure their fellow companions. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Default Tiger Kennels and Mike

I have been to Tiger Kennels several times without an appointment.
Mike always said, come anytime, I don't need to hide anything.
My husband and I were impressed with how clean everything was.

I did not buy a puppy, but I did hire his stud and I have beautiful
puppies that are healthy.

I went back and Mike cut their tails for me and offered to give them
their puppy shots for a small fee. I gave them myself.

I understand puppies can get sick, very quickly, and my vet said they should be kept away from other animals or animal areas during their
vacination times.

I registered my litter with no problems. I did not sell any of the puppies, we fell in love with all of them and they are all within my family homes.

Question Still seeking info regarding Ace Yorkies, Tiger Kennel

Thank you for your reply and information regarding this kennel. I am glad you had a great experience hiring the stud. Unfortunately I did not purchase the puppy myself and did not see the facility. Oliver was a gift for me and I only had the honor of having him for a week. My concerns are from previous threads and research I am doing on this breeder. My puppy wasn't around any other animals, unless you are counting the groomers and vet. He was matted with things attached to his fur, nails needed to be trimmed and anal glands need to be taken care of when I received him. It was all taken care of the second day I had him and the groomers have this information on file, they are well known and nationwide. I was quite naive and did not question any of this, rather chose to have it taken care of it right away. Again, I thank you for your info and will continue to seek information whether good or bad throughout the county and websites.

Default Suspicious Activity

I just wanted to give buyers more info on Ace Yorkies formally named Tiger Kennel. I was contacting the Better Buisness Bureau and notice nothing is filed under Ace Yorkies due to the fact the business was recently changed from Tiger Kennel. If you follow this link, you will find the complaints and information the Better Business Bureau has on this breeder/business. I will be contacting them tomorrow to discuss the changing in names and what I have encountered since their name changed. I've experienced only negative experiences with this seller and the most devastating of all the loss of a dog. Please follow the link below and/or contact me and I will forward your info along anonymously if you'd prefer. Again, please be aware of the breeder you are choosing, I would never wish this feeling I have on anyone: Business Report
Thank you for your time and please Private Message me with any information, comments or suggestions. Again I can't thank you all enough for your support and time. For the love of the little guys, I won't stop until I ensure the welfare and safety of Oliver's fellow companions.

Angry Better Business Bureau has no teeth, not worth anything

The Better Business Bureau has given an F, not because they have investigated, but solely because they did not receive a response.

Why, maybe language is a barrier, I don't know.

I have complained to them to no avail for other matters not related to this, why, because not many people take the time to go to them. They are useless.

Now AAA is a different story, You have a problem with a car repair and report to AAA and you get results. Any auto repair registered with AAA has to go by very strict rules and is inspected yearly. They visit the station on a regular basis.
Better Business Bureau takes your money and does nothing.

My opinion

Default Ace Yorkies Tiger Kennel Info

Thanks Inara for your opinion. I have been in contact with a few animal society that have directed me on what to do and what they are recommending. I have a lot more info to come, please tune in. Also, I noticed all positive threads for this kennel was started in May 2008 including you. I'm not stating that you are related or in any means the owner of the kennel. However, when I did speak to the current owner Dean, he had no language barrier, his English is perfectly fine. Plus, he was able to sell yorkies to customers and have a buy and sell contract in place so that means he has some type of translation help, if any was needed. I forgot to bring up an important point, when I had a discussion with the Dean at Ace Yorkies, he was aware of this site and his "friend" had come across these discussions. He was quite quick to reply, regarding Lexie Blue that the puppy that was purchased by her was replaced with another puppy Molly. I hope all buyers beware of what you are getting yourself into. The information I am gathering have not lead me to any positive road, but brings me to the devastating end that I should of done my research before deciding to get a dog. I lost a puppy I had for a week, may seem like a short time to any of you, but I would give the world to have Oliver back, he brought back a sense of happiness that I cannot describe to you what I needed in my life. While it may sound like nothing to you as an outsider, I feel like I lost a part of me and to even hear a since of sorrow from the breeders would have been a little reassuring but to hear a defensive argument just makes me angry at them and at myself for being so naive. I am doing this to help ensure that no one has to go through what I did and am going through, being single with no children and not being able to have your own, Oliver was given to me like a wish that came true to fill my void. I have no other ways to explain it but again, I wish any buyers please do your research and decide on your own what is best for you, what you will risk. just wish you'll find your little angel. Again, I am still searching for information and welcome any and all. I hope what I am doing will benefit others.

Default Ace Yorkies Tiger Kennel In

I have no connection other than stated before with Tiger Kennel, only dealt with previous owner.
Sorry about your loss, I too have lost yorkies. I had Betsy for two weeks when she was taken by a coyote, believe me, I can understand your loss.
My Ezy at age 12 had to be put down because the specialist Dr. failed to warn me about the steroids he prescribed and did not cut back until too late. I lost 4 yr old Havasu when he was given motion sickness pills and his liver could not take it. Its so sad they have short lives, they are so special to me and my husband. Copied off the internet......

If I Didn't Have a Dog

I could walk around the yard barefoot and in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rang, it wouldn't sound like a kennel and I could get to the door without
wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how
much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would have money .....and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.
My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.
My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.
I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T,
B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.
I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.
I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who
will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as
close to an angel as they will ever get.
How EMPTY my life would be!
