| Is this a reliable breeder? After much research I think I found the right breeder of Yorkshire Terriers, she never has only one breeding female, She is AKC registered, and does not ship puppies. The only thing that I was not in favor of was that she said that puppies can go home no earlier than 10 weeks, and I'm wondering if she is ok. Our Yorkie Puppies Is her website, should I trust |

YT 1000 Club Member | I'd look elsewhere if I were you. Her pups are $1,100 correct? For about the same price you can get a puppy from a breeder who breeds to standard(if you were looking for a blue/gold pup),champions her dogs, and offers a better(5 Year) guarantee than what that particular seller is providing. The breeder's who you're inquiring about Yorkies look off imo. Her guarantee is not something I would sign especially with her not covering any illnesses the pup has within 24/48 hours(does this breeder know nothing concerning incubation periods with viruses/parasites???). Have her dogs been evaluated? I'm not asking if they've been championed, but they should at least be evaluated by past/present judges or those who have shown imo. Any health checks for knees/eyes/liver? This is what I'd look for when purchasing a pup. Shipping wouldn't rule out a breeder if their reputation is stellar, but most will want to meet/speak with the buyer extensively before purchase. I'd also speak with past customers and request pictures from past litters who are now adults so I'd have an idea what my pup would look like. A pup going out at 10 weeks is not ideal to some, but take into account how big the pup is and how well he/she is eating. Last edited by ColesMommy01; 08-14-2015 at 06:51 AM. |

I've been searching for a breeder for several months now, and have not run across this particular website. I also have not come across any reputable breeders with more than an 18-month health guarantee or prices lower than $1200. ColesMommy01, would you mind sharing a few that you are familiar with?

| Have you checked the AKC website for your area for reputable breeders: https://www.apps.akc.org/apps/classi...arch/index.cfm I put the zip code '23451' in the search at a radius of 50 miles and the above are the results. However, I had to go on your general area and not specific so I'd recommend you try this yourself to see who comes up and where. I agree that the YT on the site you provided doesn't look bred to standard i.e. colors are off, in my opinion, and the slant of the nose is too low etc. Going to a reputable breeder does not guarantee a 'standard' puppy but it guarantees that they have started out with parents to retain and improve the breed standard (so chances are your YT will only have minor flaws instead of looking like a different breed altogether!) and will have done health checks etc. on the parents as they have a reputation to uphold in the ring, etc. Hope that helps and good luck in your puppy search. I know 18 months feels like a long time (I have been there) but the wait is definitely worth it so that you have a companion for the next 15+ years which is happy and healthy. I searched for Teddy for 2 years! He's not perfect, as far as coat type... but he is healthy, vivacious, smart and very Yorkie looking despite his wooly mammoth coat! Again, good luck! | Had another look at the site - if those puppies are from that mom then I have to admit they are cute when they grow up - their noses seem to be different than the moms and they grow up very handsome! Maybe some other breeders can weigh in on if the mom should be bred anymore at her age and the time she's been bred i.e. five times etc. The woman seems to be doing right i.e. not letting them go too early, not breeding the mom apart from every 18 months etc but I'm no breeder so hopefully you can get some more assistance + check out the AKC website! |

Susan----Let's Talk Yorkie (Long Island) Judy----Rosehill Yorkies(Texas) Deb----Amazing Yorkies(Midwest/5 Year Health Guarantee) Susan---Clover Hill Yorkies(Northeast if I'm not mistaken) Marsha---Miracle Yorkies(may be closest to you) I'm sure there are many more breeders out there who are reputable, those just happen to be the only ones I could think of this early. Even if they may not have something for you they may refer other breeders they know closer to you. Good luck in your search!

If you search this forum, the name Breny will come up. She loves her babies dearly, and she spends a great amount of time socializing them. I have heard raves about her., not one bad word in the six years I have been in this forum. Her puppies don't all conform to standard, but they are beautiful and happy babies with great temperaments. She lives in Michigan, but she uses a courier if you can't pick up your baby. Past Babydolls - Breny'sExquisiteBabydollYorkies http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...ies-breny.html

| I appreciate the mention for a reputable breeder....all of us on that list have worked VERY hard to earn and maintain our reputations...that is all you have, is your reputation....it must be impeccable and without question. Thank you to everyone that has even mentioned my business as a quality, reputable, trusted source for a puppy. I believe that has justified my existence in this business and substantiates my devotion to this breed and the birth of every puppy I have produced! I am eternally grateful to all my "extended Rosehill family, owners of my precious babies" for the care and devotion you have showered my babies with......I love you all for that! It is ALL about the puppies!!!! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 08-17-2015 at 04:11 PM. |
