| Take your dog and get set up with a vet. They, not only can tell you what shots your dog needs, but are the ones that will be administering them as well. |

| The previous owner should have provided you with a shot record. If you don't know what shots she has had or needs then I recommend you find a vet that can do a titer test. Vaccinating a dog when it does not need it can lead to a lot of different health issues. Titers and Canine Vaccination Decisions

| It is important that we, as owners, know which vaccines our babies really need. Many vets may try to sell unnecessary vaccines for dogs and cats, but for smaller pets, more is not always better. Also, it is recommended to only get one injection per vet visit, and to space different vaccines a month apart. Just better and safer to do it that way.

So right....I had this discussion with Oliver's vet, she agreed. Sometimes the staff automatically schedules...but if you sit and talk with Vet, you can clear it up.

And never vaccinate a sick dog, or one that is running a fever.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. I am very cautious about what shots people "tell" me their dog has had....I think it is safer practice to "trust, then verify"...have titers done and you will then definitely know what shots your baby NEEDS. | |
