HOUSTON TX VETS - My personal feelings

After Oscar passed away I switched vets 'cause I thought that his vet back then had a lot to do with my babies death, so I switched to Bay Glen Animal Hospital owned by Dr. Lisk in the Clear Lake City area and I like him a lot, he is not there all the time so is hard to get an appt with him, but all the other drs. are as nice and knowledgable as him.

Yes, you don't want to take your pet there, Abshier Meuth.I brought mine in for something simple and got a call a few hours later that he died and they just wanted talk money. Come to find out they overdosed him on all the medication they gave him. Another friend of mine brought his dog on for a teeth cleaning and got a call a few hours later their dog was dead. The few pet lovers in their are not the vets, so don't be mislead at how nice all the assistants are. They are like a hospital, they just want money. They will pump your dog up with as much medication as they think they can get away with.I haven't been to the Archer clinic.

I go to Kim Runge, DVM ... she is located on Nasa Road One in Seabrook. I have used her for many years now. Top notch vet!

For surgical cases, I use Gulf Coast Veterinary Clinic in Houston.

I have been looking and looking in Houston for a vet that would listen and be willing to learn about my sweet Lola's liver problem's...well, I think I found one! Hooray! Her name is Dr. Wilkie at Richmond Avenue Animal Hospital near the Galleria. She has Yorkies of her own and loves the breed as much as we do! She does not believe in over vaccinating like most vets I have run into and she spent almost 1 hour with me today just talking about my 2 babies. If you need a great vet in Houston that loves and understands Yorkies, I think she is the one....her number is 832-203-7711.

I highly reccomend Dr. Hawke at the Highway 6 Animal Hospital in Sugar Land TX. I've tried different vets now for 20 years in Houston and they are the best in my opinion - I make a 45 minute drive just to see them... rather than go to vets close to my home.

This facility is NOT your average clinic/hospital - it's a VET Practice in a house built for animals...the Doctors will spend time talking to you about anything. They also offer boarding and they have a whole upstairs dedicated to the comfort of the pets they board.

As far as treatment - they care... and actually sit down and explain things......They also will follow up with aftercare - I've found the people at this Vet Practice to be the most personal and experienced out of all the vets I've been to....and after 3 Cockers and 2 yorkies - I've been to the vet often in these past 10 years.

As far as the trust factor - they have mine.

Now...on the subject of Groomers in Houston?

I have none to share as I have YET to find a good groomer in Houston and believe me - I've tried ....I learned to do my own grooming rather than trust anyone with my girls...one day I may try again but I haven't had very good luck any so far - at least non I can refer to anyone.

Hope this information will help someone who may be looking for a good vet in the Houston area.

Thanks for the recommendation. I live in Katy and I need a new vet. Is the clinic north of I-10 or south? Hwy 6 seems to go forever! Doesn't really matter to me at this point, I need a new vet!

They're located in Sugar Land where I used to live...

I don't view it as a 'hospital' but a very nice vet practice with very caring vets and office personel

After I moved I went to a few vets in my area and was disgusted - they all seemed to have an awful smell so I turned away and walked right out. I did try one close to me for their annuals and holy cow - the dr. spent like 5 minutes with us - then handed me a bill for $380.00. My jaw dropped ....Hwy6 Animal Hospital is the best one I've dealt with - and there is an emergency hospital they work closely with not far from their location -
