| Grooming - Petco - Almost killed my dog We took another dog of ours - not a Yorkie - to Petco to get groomed. Sadie is a Jack Russell/Schipperke mix. We just wanted her bathed. Not clipped, dipped, polished, buffed or whatever else they could do - just a bath. They poisoned her! She became very ill and almost died. Our vet told us it was a miracle she lived. That they either let her lick flea dip or they put her in it and left her in it so long that it soaked through her skin to much. She should not have been in contact with it at all! Sadie's personalitity has changed. She used to like to go places, go in the car. Now she is terrified if the car, of leaving the house. She is still a sweet girl who loves to cuddle and play in the yard. But going in the car...naaaaa she'll stay home! She's 11 1/2 now and this was about 7 years ago. So I don't guess she'll ever change her mind about going places. Whatever makes her happy works for me. I don't know what to say about Petco other than don't take your dog there! | I am so sorry that this experience has changed Sadie. So glad she survived and is still with you. I have heard so many horror stories about Petco & Petsmart - this one just a week or so ago http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-petsmart.html And even the average grooming place - now for the most part I handle the grooming myself. Thank you for the warning too.

| I'm so sorry to hear this. I would never take my babies to any of those big chains, because we have had so many bad reviews on them. Sorry this happened to you.

| Sad stories. I can't even watch Petsmart or Petco grooming, makes me mad what some do to dogs to get them clipped, brushed out, etc.... I believe in grooming myself, even if it isn't perfect. Back in 1990, when I got a Pomeranian, the breeder had several suggestions, the first one being to groom boo bear myself - ALWAYS! Hopefully I will always be able to do this for my pups.

| This was and is the only time I have ever taken a dog to a groomer. My one and only expierence. Now, I am sure that there are many good groomers out there. But I had always bathed Sadie myself and, at the time, she was our only pet. We were moving that day and I thought it would be a good idea. NOT one of my better ones! I have found a wonderful groomer now - My husband! I could list a million and one wonderful things about my husband and one of them is he is a fantastic dog groomer! Kathy Romeo and Bella's Mom |

| This is awful. I prefer a boutique style dog salon. (more upscale) The big dogs in Petsmart scare me.

| That is so sad plus being so uncalled for. I say, get a grooming book and do it yourself. They may not look as good at first but practice makes perfect and I had rather mine be safe than have something horrible happen to them. Its getting to be a sad world when we can't even trust anyone anymore to groom our dogs. Poor baby, I am so sorry she had to go through that. |

| That is so sad to hear about that. I took my baby to Petco just the other day to be groomed, because a lot of the friends I know take their puppies there. Well i picked her up and the next morning noticed fleas on her. Before this she had NEVER had them. I was so upset because im such a clean freak, and for my baby to have fleas...We wont be going there again!!!
