| Prenatal vitamins... Well, my baby surprised us... I was sure Don Juan was not going to be ready to cover Luna in her last heat... But the little stinker made it... So I may become a grandma!!! I am soooo excited!!! My parents breed yorkies in Mexico, and I have bred dogs since I was a little girl, but my Luna is special/... I have such a special connection with her, that I am made a wreck!!! I would like to ask you, wonderful YT breeders, as I am not very familiar with the stuff we can get here in the U.S. which kind of prenatal vitamins do you use... I know we don't supplement calcium until the pups are born, but, beside the puppy food, just want to be on the safe side, so my Luna's body does not suffer that much... I would really appreciate advice, and I think I will be here with you, guys, getting ready!!! Our probable due date would be Dec. 7, so Yeeeeeyyyyy!!!! Thanks for all your help and support!!! I will for sure need it!!!

| The only thing that I supplement with is Concept A Bitch but, only in the last Trimester and only 3 times a week. I do increase meals and change to puppy food.

I usually begin changing as soon as I find out she is pregnant...but, I do a gradual change over. I do add boneless, skinless steamed chicken breasts to all my dog's meals...I do add, a bit of cottage cheese during the preagnancy but, not with every meal....and grated mild low fat cheedar cheese. I begin increasing meals to 4 times a day during the last couple of weeks and throughout her whelping time. Immediately after whelping I provide her with NutriDrops and a recipe of Canned Goats Milk, equal parts of water, 1 Tablespoon of Karo Syrup and 1 egg yolk, beat thorougly. And then add during her nursing time Post Whelping Pudding Post Whelping Pudding 16 oz. water 1 pkg. Knox Gelatin (micro. to disolve) 15 oz. can evap. milk 2 tabls. vanilla yogurt 2 egg yolks 2 tabls. white corn syrup mix all ingred. in bowl let set in fridge until thickens. Spoon out as needed. Even during the night when I am checking on puppies I gave Mom some of this. I've used this recipe for weaning pups too... Congratulations on your upcoming litter and my prayers are with you that all goes well. Mary

YT 1000 Club Member | Hi I just wanted to throw this bit of advice in. My Girl Maggie had her pups in August. I was told by her vet to feed her puppyfood and to give her cottage cheese once a day with her food. Well from that advice I almost lost Maggie due to Pancreatitis. Apparently Puppyfood has a high fat content and then adding cottage cheese added to the problem. So if your going to feed your pregnant female puppyfood try giving one with a low fat content, an all life stages brand or just mix some in with her regular food. |

YT 1000 Club Member | No problem, I would just hate for anyone to have to go through what we just went through. Until Maggie came into my life I can't remember being as happy as I am now. Now with 2 of her sons here I am a very happy lady. And after the vet called with Maggies enzyme levels I was on cloud nine. They are all back to normal. |
