| New and can use advice! I'm new to the board and My 3 year old molly is expecting her first litter in about a week. Any advice for the new grandma would be a great help. Oh and our vet told us that she is expecting 7! Isn't that a lot for a yorkie? She is normally 10 lbs and the male is 6 lbs. I just want to be as prepared as I can. Molly is 54 days today! With such a large litter could she go early? |

| Oh my 7! Well you're going to have your hands full. No that's not alot for a 10 pounder really. She shouldn't go any early than usual. Taking temperatures in the last week will give you a baseline to go by and can signal when labor is imminent. Just be sure to have everything ready. Most of the time, things go smoothly. I bet your girl will do well. The thing with 7 is that when your a nervous wreck and she delivers the first, it's like "you mean I have to do this 6 more times?" |

| I'm so excited! I think I'll be fine as long as Molly is...I just like being prepared. It's so nice to have this board for quick help. There seems to be a lot of nice people with yorkies out there. |

| Make sure she gets plenty of calcium once she has whelped so she doesn't end up with eclampsia. Cottage cheese added to puppy food each day does a great job.
