Wow, 3/4 of an ounce is incredibly small!! Do you know how small that is? I have never heard of a yorkie pup being this small. Destiny's two pups were just barely at 3 oz and that is very tiny.
I have even heard of pups being an ounce big although when they are even that small they don't have a great chance of making it. Someone here had a litter not too long ago where they were 2 ounces and 3 ounces and one that was 1 ounce and it didn't make it.

I can't see why she would be accepting deposits on them already. That boy is way too small to have a deposit on. With him being so small, there may be a good chance he won't make it. It is just too young to tell. You have a better chance of putting a deposit on one of his bigger siblings, they should have a better chance of surviving and thriving.

I would not put a deposit on him. If anything, watch him grow and after he has grown some and has a better chance of surviving, then you could put a deposit on him. I would wait to atleast 6 weeks old though.

3/4 of an ounce....WOW! That is super tiny and seems unlikely,but I'm no expert. It's hard to tell from that picture, but even the littermates look a bit "plump". She said that the biggest was 2oz...it is hard without seeing them in person but they do look a bigger than that in the picture.

Do what you are comfortable with,though. If you decide to not buy from her,take a look at some of the great breeders that YorkieTalk has!

I'm sure it's possible. I've had a 1 ounce puppy and there are other breeders that have. She grew to be 6 pounds and very healthy. However, I've never heard of taken deposits on any of them at this age. Well, not from good breeders anyway. First you want to ensure that the puppy is going to live then you can take the deposit.

If the mom is small, and she had 5 pups in there, I could see how they would be small to fit them in.

That's something for a whole litter to be under 2 ounces. Often, if there is a tiny one, it's just one maybe two of the litter. She did say she had an unusually large litter this time.

Sigh. If this litter truly is that small, she must be breeding litters with a special characteristic that makes them so small. In any case, I do want to see how this boy turns out, but I think I should keep my options open so that if I change my mind, I can always have a back-up plan.

I'm a good breeder. I wouldn't even show one like that for a deposit. If it were to DIE it would be my loss, NOT with imposed heartache on one of my customers. I raise healthy babies!!! There are times that maybe one that is very tiny won't make it, Then it's MY LOSS. I will take deposit, Not for Choice, but to assure that you will get a puppy. The choices are made at 6 weeks after their first shots. Person with the first deposit gets first choice. I only post tea cup puppies on my site at 10 weeks. I have given the baby suffienct time to grow, and to have a real idea as to what the baby will really weigh. People can be money humgry taking deposits on a puppy that's 3 days old. They fit into the catagory of a back yard breeder or a puppy mill. The Greed is still the same, I see babies in Hands in pictures 2 days old. I think What Is This??? i do think you should go with her to the vet with this puppy or see if you yourself can take it to the vet and make sure everything is okay!

also i think the breeder should keep it till it is a good weight. i think she should let him go to you when the pup is ready not by how old it is. but when that single pup seems fully ready to be without its mom.

Im sorry people are scaring you but dont run from the pup just see waht you can do to ensure that this pup is healthy!

and you may want to ask her again if she didnt mean 1 3/4 ounces!

there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. Yorkies are in the toy groups, there are no sub groups called teacup. That is a selling ploy you'll see absolutely everywhere that makes noone any different from the others looking to make money.

Definitely. Watch her grow. Follow your heart, if you want her keep an eye on her. I bet she'll be one of the biggest in the end!
