Eyes open at one week of age.....I know some very experienced breeders, decades and decades of breeding and exhibiting... 15 days is the average, give or take a day or two.

8 weeks of age is a bit young to place a pup...they are just being weaned and mom has just begun potty training and socializing...

They're going to be fully socialized by eight weeks! It is up to the owner to house train a dog, not the mom!
I in no way meant to offend you and really had no clue how long you'd been breeding. I actually, for some reason, thought this was your first litter and was making an honest suggestion that many are unaware of... I am sorry if it was misundstood.
You will find that many experienced, respected breeders disagree with placing them that young. Likewise, not sure I would be letting children and all my friends handle week old pups, but again, that's just ME. However, there is a big difference between 'house training' and 'socializing'--not sure I understand that part...? I think that when 'socializing' was mentioned, it was in reference to social skills that pups obtain from interacting with their littermates...something that human contact is no substituion for.
If your experience has proven otherwise to you, then that is great!

8 weeks is much to young to let a puppy go. They are just being weaned (I let my dams call the shots there). From the age of 8 weeks on the dams do so much with their puppies.....I do what is best for the puppy not the client..

I do not let puppies go home at Christmas. These are toy dogs.....Christmas is much too busy of a time....guests coming in and out of the house, a puppy can escape.....puppies stepped on, hyperglycemic...being a busy time...you can forget they need rest and food.

It is my responsibility to insure puppies go home house trained....and very socialized.....no, it isn't unrealistic......

AMEN! I would *hope* that this would be the main concern of anyone who considers themselves a 'breeder.' But sadly, I know that is not always the case.

Of course, I would expect as much from you Mary, given your many years of dedication breeding.

Oh thank goodness... I know I am a bit sleep deprived, but I was beginning to wonder just how much. LOL

Yep, 2 then the water broke, then 2 more?? Is that what happened? Eyes open at a week? This seems all just a little strange. I too in all my long years have never heard of that happening, guess stranger things have happen...
I also totally agree with all who have said Yorkie puppies should not be sold at 8 weeks if you honestly care about the puppies and their well being. The things their mother can give them and teach them is invaluable. I sincerely hope you reconsider.

Not sure if it's a troll or just a youngster playing us. Notice the way her username is. Upper case and lower case. That is the latest thing for preteens and younger when they get on the internet. i think we have a child here or at least a very young person. i was wondering how long it would take you guys to catch on that the eyes opened at about four or five days. plus, a few more things.

If so, I feel really ignorant for falling for it. But something does sound 'off.'
