Hi Sharon,
I just got caught back up on this thread. I am sitting here with tears flowing as I read. Oh the ups and downs. Bless you girl, you are doing a great job and are such a responsible yorkie owner. I will be keeping you and your babies in my prayers. Come on Yoda... show those docs they are wrong.
Hugs

Don't cry. Everything is going to be alright. If God thinks that it is time then it is time. But I am still giving this guy a fighting chance. This is a chance that I took when I bred Tinkerbell. I never thought that there was going to be 5 puppies and 1 would have so much trouble. I am so happy with what God has granted me and I have learned so much. Thank you for wearing your heart out on your sleave. You are too nice. At this point I am out to prove the doctors wrong and I think so is Yoda.

Hugs,
Sharon

I'm shocked that they docked the tail. Their is a period of up to 3 weeks that this can be done without putting the baby to sleep to have it done. If it was done properly it wouldn't have had an open hole for infection. Some dyne in the food or deluted in a syringe will stop the tremmors. Could be the onset of dehydration.
My prayers are with him. Thanks god for Angels!!

What is dyne and where can I find it? He is on Lactulose and metronidazole that the doctors put him on. It seems to be helping, but he is still shaking a lot. Expecially today. He is not dehydrated, but today seems like a hard day for him. He was crawling around on his belly today which he has never done. I need all the advise that I can get.

About the tail docking. I don't think that he was struggling so much when we had their tails docked. I mean yes he was small, but he was not struggling like he is now.

Thanks for the information

Default dyne

Dyne is a High calorie liquid dietary supplement. You mix it in with the puppies food or give it diluted in a syringe when they are sick or you are weaning them. You can purchase it at http://www.revivalanimal.com

Sounds like they are giving fluids. The fluids my vet gives is called Ringers.
Would nutrical or Karo syrup be comparable?
Just a few tips below, in case you might have some questions
Nutrical can be hard on the babies tummy. The dyne is easier assimilated into the system. Karo doesn't have vitamins. Dyne is a high calorie dietary supplement. This will combat dehydration, the other things won't
You can feed this straight mixed with water when they won't eat at all. Nutrical can cause diarrhea.

Sorry to hear he is having a bad day. I hope tomorrow will be a better day. I'm going to order the Dyne, sounds good to have around anyway, although I wish I could find it at a store around here.

Thank you for the information. He is eating very well that is really not my problem right now. It is more that he is so big (8.5 oz) today that he can not walk with all that weight. He looks like a pear shape with all the weight in the tail end. He has been moving around with his tummy on the ground. I might have to take him in to the vet tomorrow afternoon and see if he is making any progress or just getting worse. I might have to put him down. He is not in any pain, but he is stuggling.

Here are picture from today.

Awww this has got to be extremely hard on you. I wish there was something I could do to ease your mind, but I'm sure you will do what is best for him. I just read most of this thread and I'm so saddened at how short his life is expected to be. I am happy to see that you are giving him every chance possible at life. I wish you the best with him whatever your final decision is.

He looks so precious.

I know this is such a hard decision. But if you do put him down, just know it would be a kind decision, so be comforted. It's a selfless act. There's no pain for them, just a peaceful crossing. His pain is going to be alot worse over time......

But that is cruel to do to the breeder as well as the puppy. It is agonizing to watch a puppy struggle in pain. If the vets prognosis is not good, it is kinder to the breeder and the pup to help the poor puppy and relieve the pain and suffering of both before it becomes unbearable. JMO

Default Sad Update

This morning I woke up and Yoda was not doing any better. I decided that it was time and I brought him in to be put down and cremated. I could not afford the private cremation so I had paid for the mass cremation and for his ashes to be scattered in a beautiful place here in Anchorage. I thought that he would be happy there.

I could not stay and watch them do it. So I said good bye and left him for the vet who was helping me take care of him to do that. I called her and she said that he was very relaxed and went peacefully. She also paid for a private cremation service, a necklace that I can wear and herself a keychain with his ashes also. She is truly my angel and I am so happy that I found her.

Thank you everyone for the support and your wonderful suggestions to get this little guy better. We did everything we could to keep this little guy out of pain and having a great life no matter how short it was. Thank you all again for all your help. Yoda is in a better place.

My condolences, Sharon. You really went the extra mile with Yoda, and he knew he was loved in his short time on earth.
