| HELP, not eating! Nelly just had a beautiful litter of 4 and is doing well, but just a little worried about her eating habits. She won't eat the the dry food she use to eat all the time. The only thing she will eat is canned dog food. She is very picky about the flavor she eats of that too. We got her some soft dry food but wouldn't eat much of that either. The vet said its normal for her not to eat her dry food, anyone else experienced that? If so for how long? Then we gave her canned dog food and she ate that up. What do you recommend??? Also she has awful diarrhea. Is this from the canned food or from her cleaning her pups? They were born on 9/11. I am worried, we asked the vet and he said to give her Pepto-Bismol, but that doesn't seem to be helping at all. She is getting up several times a day and night to go out and potty. HELP!!!!!! Thanks! |

| If the diarrhea doesn't stop... ask your vet for ALBON... it usually stops the runs right away. I guess you could soak the dry food... maybe if it is the soft canned food causing the loose stools... this may correct the problem. Good luck.

| diet I boil a chicken, pick the meat off, add buttered rice..mine love that mixture. Rice will bind her up, so will coconut. I add cottage cheese, veggies and their normal kibble after the stool is normal again..go slow. |

| Mine are always picky eaters after whelping and they always have diarrhea for a while afterwards. Remi whelped almost 4 weeks ago and though she will nibble at the other dogs food she likes her special new mommy rescipe better. I ground up puppy kibble, mix it with goats milk, add some cottage cheese and a spoonful of soft dogfood. This is what I start my pups on as well so it works to have it in the puppy pen.

| Yes We have made the whelping pudding, she has not had any in awhile though, I will make some more for her. How often should we feed that to her, or just feed her as much as she wants to eat of that? is that all we should give her? How long is that good for when keeping it in the fridge? |
