At 5 months old, and already 5lbs. 13 ozs.... I've got my first litter (two boys) and they're 5 months old. One boy is just beautiful, top line, coat color/ texture, beautiful gait but darned if he isn't already 5lbs. 13 oz. My question for all you experienced breeders is, what is your guesstimate of his final size? My mentor here seems to think he'll only get to about 6.5 lbs. I just don't understand how he'll not grow more than that. P.S. He is not overweight at all. He is fed twice a day (Chick Soup for Puppies + a little steak or chicken added in for flavor). We exercise him very well (~1.5 mile a day brisk walk/ run) muscular build.

I would've thought so too, but they are still very energetic even after the walk. I don't force them to do it, I kinda let them show me how much they want, but in the end, I'm the one that ends up tired and ready to go home.

weight What was his 12 and 16 week weight? He is pushing 6 pounds at 5 months and it is really iffy that he will stop growing at 6 months or so. IF his frame is compact, I would not be concerned if he got bigger, even into 7 pounds for the ring..but if he continues to grow in frame, well, then you have a big decision to make.

In Yahtzee's last litter, she had two tiny girls and a huge boy. They all weighed around 4 ozs when born. At 4 months, the girls were under 2 pounds, while the he was around 5 pounds. Now at 5 months, the two girls are (sold one to a friends parents and still have one for sale) still under 3 pounds and the boy (my niece took him) is around 6 pounds. He great really fast, but then leveled out.
