| Age of First Heat Could someone please tell me when a female Yorkie should have her first heat? I have a 6 month old male that has not been neutered yet. I plan to do it very soon, however, I do not want my female puppy to get pregnant. Thanks! |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Females can start their first heat around 6 months of age up to 14 months of age. Sometimes, the heat cycle is so minute that you'll miss all of the signs. It's best to get your male neutered ASAP so that no accidents can happen. Some females will only come in heat once a year while others are like clockwork...every 6 months.

| Thank You Thanks so much. I thought she might be going into heat so I will keep them seperated until he is neutered. |

| It varies....Mimi had her first heat when she was 11 months and Lilly just went into heat and she is 8 months. Lilly showed no signs and Mimi did. Also, Mimi was bleeding for about a week and Lilly has been bleeding for 1 week 3 days and it has not stopped. I do have a question as well... Lilly has been bleeding for over a week. Is this normal? |

| Ginger went into her first heat this week. Since then, she has been vomiting mucous, water, and food. (is this normal?) Also, tonight she has urinated what appeared to be clear water with a little blood in it. Anyway, this is our first time dealing with this and any advice is appreciated. Do I need to take her to the vet when they open? Also, our male Yorkie, Loki, was just neutered last week. We are still keeping them seperated 90% of the time.

| I think Kona was almost 9 months old at her first heat.
