| Help please questions about new mommie! Gia had her pups last wed. I was off work all last week and there with here (she is a real momma's girl) Yesterday I went back to work and the kids called me and said she wouldn't leave the bedroom (but was using the peepad) and not eating very much. When I got home I tok her temp which was fine, but she just seemed a little "depressed" I don't know how else to explain it babies were all ok ...I gave her some fresh water and food..she didn't touch it..but if I gave it to her from my hand she would eat it.as the nite progressed she got "happier" and seemed ok..I called the vet on calll and wasn't impresssed at all...he was distracted and his kids were yelling and he told me.."she will probably be ok..bring her in in the morning" I can't bring her in this am. I am a nurse and we have one nurse off for a funeral and another has a huge crisis in her life and is off. Not easy to get off anyway and with this there is no way. This am babies looked good and when I feed her I put some water in with it (sometimes she likes it softer) and she was drinking the liquid, but not the food. and she was following me around all morning..do you think she is experiencing seperation anxiety with tme?? My son is there all day long and my daughter is in and out all day?? Any ideas

| Ollie didn't seem to eat much right after she had her puppies either. I gave her canned food which she loves, both morning and night, and she go cottage cheese and a half of a boiled egg or some boiled chicken at noon. I didn't take her off of that diet til the pups were starting to wean. Try cooked chicken, cottage cheese, ice cream, vanilla yogurt, canned goats milk and baby cereal, anything that she will eat. If you do not give her a good supply of calcium she could develop eclampsia. I would not put her back on dry food for the time being. You can leave it out for her, but supplement with items from the list above. |

Remember she's like every new mother, requiring a lot of special attention. She's very emotional now and needs affection too.
