| Definition Of A Breeder this poem was given to me today DEFINITION OF A BREEDER by C.POLT A breeder is one who thirsts for knowledge and never really knows it all and doesnt pretend he does,,,one who wrestles with decisions of conscience, convenience and commitment. A breeder is one who sacrifices personal interests, finances, time, fancy furniture, and deep pile carpeting,,,He gives up dreams of a long, luxurious vacation in favor of turning that spare room into a wonderful sacrifices,,, besides, who would watch the dogs while hes gone,,,He goes without sleep, but not without coffee, in hrs spent planning or watching anxiously over the birth process and afterwards, over every little sneeze, wiggle or cry,,,He skips dinner parties because that litter is due or babies have to be fed at 8,,,He disregards birth fluids and does mouth to mouth to save a gasping newborn, literally blowing life into a tiny, helpless creature that knows will fill someones dreams,,His lap is a marvelous place where generationsof happy, healthy, and much adored furbabies have snoozed,,,And still do,,His hands are strong and firm, but ever so gentle and sensitive to the thrusts of a puppys wet nose,,His back and knees are usually arthritic from stooping, bending, and sitting in the birthing box, but are strong enough to enable him to play on the floor with that rascally bunch at 5 wks old,,,His shoulders are stooped and often heaped with abuse from unkind words of those who dont understand, but they re wide enough to support the weight of a thousand"Thank You s" from happy new families,,His arms are always able to wield a mop, support an armful of puppies or lend a helping hand to a newcomer,, but cant hold grudges or hold onto unpleasant ridicule,,His ears are wondrous things, sometime red(from being talked about)o strangely shaped from being pressed into the phone so much, yet always finetuned to the wimper of a sick pup ,His eyes may be blurred from pedigree research, but they are ever so keen to what a happy ,healthy pup looks and acts like,,His brain is sometime foggy ,but can recall ho many were in a litter 4 yrs ago that produced a certain pup,, Its so full of knowlege that sometimes it blows a fuse,, it catalogues thousands of colors, sizes, and perfect temperaments,,His heart is sometimes broken but beats strongly with hope everlasting, and its always in the right place!Oh yes, there are breeders, and then,, there are BREEDERS!! thanks pam |
