No Longer a Member | Why do I even bother? OK, I know I should know better than to even look, but every week when the pennysaver comes out, I'm always looking at the pet ads to see what yorkies are there. Like I think I'm going to find one from good lines and health certs on the parents, but I can't help scanning the ads. So I call one today with two females, says they'll be ready in June. First, she says they'll be ready the first week of June. I ask how old they are. She says "5 weeks" and here's the kicker..."I don't like to let them go at 6 weeks; I like to wait until they are 7 weeks." She owns the parents, no champions in the pedigree, doesn't know anything about the lines, but she knows they are good because she paid a lot of money for them . The mom is "black and red (what is red?) and short and silky" and the dad is "blue black and gold and tall and wooly" She admitted she was a "new breeder". I'm sorry, but she just sounds like she knows nothing about what she is doing. sigh |

| I have to agree with you -- it sounds like someone who didn't do any research or education before jumping into breeding |

| Tall and woolly, lol. And why is he three colors?! Maybe by red she means that darker brown that's sometimes mixed into the black/gold on the face? I've seen it on some Yorkies. How much was she selling them for? Did they have papers? |

| You know what the saddest part is? Somebody, uneducated in finding a quality breeder, will buy these babies and all I can hope for is that they can take care of them when problems arise.

BANNED! | 7 weeks has this lady lost her mind????? That's outrageous, they shouldn't go to new homes that early. Usually is is safe to place them in new homes around 10 weeks, depending on the individual puppy some can go a little bit earlier. Even big dogs who have puppies shouldn't have their puppies placed till 8 weeks, I don't know what that lady is thinking. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I don't let them leave until 12 weeks. They are still being socialized with the older pups and the humans. |

| I agree. If they are AKC registered she better not let them go to a new home until between 8 and 12 weeks that is per AKC. I asked them when I was looking for my yorkies. My babies are not going to new homes until they are 12 weeks old. ( i agree with Scapindee) Not good to let them go earlier. I would ask to see the AKC papers on the puppies. I think it is strange that she dont know anything about the parents background. what kind of a breeder doesnt know their babies ! She said she knows their good because she paid alot of money for them. She makes no cents. I would do some research before I got involved with that mess.... | Yep, sad, sounds like she's just trying to make money and doesn't really care or know enough about the breed.

| There is no way those puppies weigh what she is saying they weigh. Peanut is supposedly 4 oz. He looks about the same size Slade was when I got him and Slade was over a pound. That site is nothing but LIES! I feel sorry for anyone dumb enough to believe those lies.

What website are you referring to? This was about a number I called in the pennysaver. No website or weights mentioned... | |

| I live in California and there was a law passed this year that the pups cannot go to their new homes until at least 8 weeks of age. She's the reason for that law Im sure. I agree w/ letting them go at 12 wks. We waited til 12 weeks to sell Mallee, but decided to keep her instead :-) I worked at Pennysaver for 3 yrs too! I used to get the ads in the office on Mondays b4 everyone else. Couldn't help but to look at all the pet ads...haha. I still look at them! There's a lady in Littlerock, Ca..watch out for her! She's a puppymill! I looked up her ad and she had puppies advertising w/ us almost every week of the year! My friend went to look at her dogs too. She had two yorkie males for sale. One only had one testicle...hmmmm. My friend ended up buying both just to get them out of there. I helped her to re-place them in EXCELLENT homes. The puppymill lady had them in a small crate outside with a tarp over the cage...and it was cold that day! |
