Ok..... I have a boxer that came from registered parents but I did not
register him. I had no plans to breed him therefore it wasnt necessary. However he has had some pups and they were just as healthy as they would have been had they had been able to be registered. Great purebred boxers.
IMO... if you are happy with the breeder and everything meets your standards then I think you should go for it....JMO
Good luck,
Jennifer

It is easier said than done and you have to rely on the hope that they are being honest with you. You would like to think everyone has good morals and wouldnt deceive you but sadly to say it isnt the case. I bought these 2 yorkies before I found YT or I would have been a little wiser and had the insight that I didnt have when I purchased them. The people that come on here to ask for info before they purchase their new yorkies are doing themselves a great service by learning from others mistakes and that way they can make better choices than some of us have made.
The only thing I can think of to encourage you Barb is that since you got Trace at a good pet price, you should be able to sell him without an immense loss. The surgery cost me $500. and they recover from it beautifully. I know that doesn't help with the dissapointment over the outcome with the breeder or the loss of the dreams that you had for Trace. I just wanted you to know that there can still be a happy ending, I found Cricket a very happy home and learned a valuable lesson.

I know. The surgery will be about 800.00 here and that is if we just operate on the Legg Perthes. His knees are so bad that they may need to be operatd on too and of course the surgery to fix him. I havent decided whether I can bear to place him though. I know he will still make a great pet because he is such a sweetheart. I did have hopes for some very nice dogs out of him because he is a beauty. I hope Cricket is doing great at her new home.

both my yorkies dont have papers, and I really dont care, I dont love them any less! I say if you truly want a yorkie and this yorkie is going to be part of your loving family, more than just your DOG than as long as you see the parents and where the yorkie lives, had all the shots that they need before they go home, and was no less than the 12 weeks I say its o.k. But thats what I feel, you love your furbabies no what they have or dont have. Remember they show you love no matter what kind of day your having, the love is always in their eyes!

I tend to agree with you that if you are just wanting a pet and dont care if it has papers and the breeder is reputable and the price it right, then I wouldnt necessarily run the other way just because it doesnt have papers. I would ask to see why it isnt papered and base your decision on what they say.

Ok, I got a reply from the breeder telling me why it isn't papered. Apparently she was called to rescue this pup that was wandering the streets and got hit by a car. She took her in as her own. Any more thoughts???

I would first question why she just was not up front w/this information. If I was you I would just hold out and wait it is not worth the risk of what it would cost you. I found a reputable breeder by calling a bunch of local vets and dog groomers and asking if they knew of any. A lot of them did. Good luck w/what ever you decide.

My thoughts are how much risk do you want to take buying a puppy that you dont know what the background on the parents is. If you are getting it for a steal then maybe I would think about it, but if she is charging the same as a good puppy that you know comes from good breeding stock, then I think I would pass if it were me. There are just too many things that can go wrong with a yorkie.

Ok, I had to post to this one.. I couldn't hold back. Who in their right mind would breed a rescue? 1st of all, you wouldn't know if it was purebred Yorkie, or just looked like a Yorkie. 2nd of all, you wouldn't sell puppies for the price of a purebred. 3rd, She was hit by a car! Things like this would give me an idea of this breeder's scruples. IMO.. Run!

I have to agree. Rescues should never be bred, you have no idea as to their parentage or their genetic health. This dog could pass any number of faults to her offspring, sho knows? And to advertise them as yorkies and sell them at full price? I sense a money making thing going on here. Poor pup already had been homeless and hit by a car, who would put it through the stress of having puppys as well? I'd pass!

Yeah.... I think I am going to run LOL In her defense, they aren't full price, but still. Because of this thread I have been given many good breeders information that I look forward to talking to! Thanks everyone for all of your input!

Wise move I am sure! There are too many nice quality AKC babies out there with reasonable prices to take any chances with this one! Good luck finding your baby!
