| Gees yet another Registration I received the following in an email. I can't believe they are totally disregarding the integrity of registrations. IMO if a breeder can't afford AKC fees then they can't afford Quality Food, or Vet Bills. In the grand scheme of things, AKC fees are not that high, and should not be used as an excuse to use another registration. I have blanked out the name, I didn't want to inadvertently help them in any way... just in case. Quote:

| It is unbelievable how many registries out there are just in it for the money, I can't keep track of how many there are. No wonder why everyone always gets confused when it comes to dog registrations!! Deb, I didn't know you were a member here. I love your yorkies, they are all gorgeous!! I always going to your page and looking at them. I hope to someday to be able to get a yorkie from you.

| Just sad! It is annoying, I see so many dogs in my shop with proud owners and they tell me about their registerations! (I am a dog groomer in Canada but 500 yards from the US border so we have many American customers) Some are plain ridiculous! One lady went on and on and brought in her 'papers' so I would know how important Cupcake is, why she is an EXCLUSIVE member of the International Canine Rare Breed Association for Pet Owners (some title such as that), Cupcake is cute (if you don't mind losing a finger when groomng her), she is the rare shorkie-tese-cock-a-poo? (I could not figure it out, even after shaving the pelt off her back) I usually bring one of my dogs with me and I am tempted at times to find their CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registration papers and have the framed...but what is the point? Many people do not understand the significance or the the ethics. I realize there are so many wonderful pets out there and majority of my clients 'didn't get the papers with their pets' but it irks me privately for the ones who are so taken with 'papers' of these multiple registrations, names and organizations i have never heard of. I have many yorkie clients and I am getting very familiar with the local breeders names and kennels in the Maritimes and New England. They are so excited to have found a yorkie for a good price, that has papers! Multiple registrations! When I politely ask from where I almost cringe when they tell me the na,mes of puppy mills or breeders that multiple other yorkie owners have had bad experiences with. I try to educate gently for those that inquire, I nearly dance when someone comes and asks for advice to purchase a new pup 'properly'. I can realte with my customers, before i bought my first yorkie I new really nothing about dogs. I did not fully understand the concept 'purebred' to the full degree, papers really meant nothing to me but they sounded fabulous, breeding sounded like a good way to make money. Then I fell in love with yorkies, I saw one at the office of a client and I was so excited, so cute and tiny with a bow! I went home and researched, my best friend had just bought a JRT...so I begged DH and he agreed. I called the closest breeder and she said...NO! you do not know enough, there is so much for you to learn. you want a yorkie? Then you need to earn it, they cannot just be bought. She gave ame a LONG list to research, websites to read. It took well over 3 days. I called her and we talked for hours. I learned so much, loved her to pieces. She called me back a few days later and said she had one little guy that would suit me...since Reggie joined my life nothing has been the same. We bought a house with a yard for him (moved over 100 miles to find it), bought him a sister, had children, I changed careers and became a dog groomer so he could go to work with me. I know this is long widned and off topic but the probelm with these registrations is they prey on the uneducated potential dog owner. They are like me before I found out more.

| I can't qite see the point in that whole thing. The breeders are supposed to encourage their buyers to register their dogs with some no name registry??? People still want AKC registered dogs. Many have no clue what AKC is for but they know that the AKC registry is worth something and are willing to pay more for an AKC registered dog. IMO if you're going with one of these no name registries, you may as not register at all. |

| I have seen a lot of advertisements of puppies for sale, registered with another registry besides AKC. The ad will say, nice champion lines. These people don't mind using an AKC pedigree as a selling point for their dogs that are registered through anything but AKC. How sad. |

| I think it is very sad that people who use other registries, say they have nice champion lines as a selling point, then have the nerve to use a AKC pedigree. Don't want to use AKC, but want to use the AKC pedigree to sell the pups. I was reading that AKC receives a lot of complaints from people who thought they were puchasing a AKC puppy and then were sent registration papers from another registry by the seller. |
