| I've not heard of that before, sorry. I always use a digital thermometer I bought at Wal Mart.

| So even if you're using a regular human digital thermometer and it says 98.2 is it actually 98.2, you don't have to add a degree?? My vet didn't tell me that but my mother-in-law is a nurse and she said she thought you had to add the extra one degree to the temp.... Thanks

| Hmmm not sure if it's the same or not, but this is one I would use because it's for pets. Best of luck to you! Stay calm, and get your camera ready. http://www.admon.com/

| My vet told me you could buy a regular digital thermometer and use that. She recommended one that has a flexible tip and use lots of KY Jelly on it. She didn't say to add or remove a degree or anything like that. She told me their normal temp is between 100-102 degrees. Good luck!

| Good luck.....you'll be running around like a Keystone Cop. Nothing can really prepare you for the 1st time....make sure you have your emergency numbers readily available....once all puppies have been delivered, keep monitoring for a good 2 hours....after that you'll need a nap, but make sure you have someone to take over to keep a watchful eye. Oh! and make you have a post whelping recipe for mother. 1 can of goats milk, equal parts of filtered water, 1 (beaten) egg yolk and 1 Tablespoon of light Corn Syrup.....mixed together....offer this to her in a bowl after she's done. Give her plenty of praise.

Mardelin, is that a raw egg yolk?? So, this is like a liquid that she is supposed to drink after whelping? I suppose it's extremely healthy for her? What if for some reason she doesn't get this recipe? Is she not going to want to eat her regular food?

| Yes, Raw egg yolk.....It does help with milk production....and you really want to boost her energy right after whelping....yes she'll eat her food, you'll see how ravenous she'll become....my girls eat 5 meals a day when nursing....adding the whelping pudding recipe as a side dish to her regular meals....they never leave a drop and sometimes ask for more....
