| Temps at 98.8 and holding..Here we go! The last three temps 10am/10pm yesterday & 10am today are all at ~98.8. Brought her to the vet today (day 60) for xrays. Three pups yay ... All large pups Kinda yay, kinda not ... All breach dang!!! I was hoping that my first (and hers) whelping would be the easy type. Now I'm stressed and a little worried about my girl. Any suggestions and advise on breaches will be greatly appreciated. My mentor told me to be extremely careful of the abdomen if I need to gently pull if/when the head gets stuck. Also to apply a little KY and gently pull only during contraction. Question - How long would you leave a pup in this postion before getiing concerned? I do know one thing, it'll not take much for me to jump the gun and get her to the vet. Aloha |

| Make sure you have a dry wash rag on hand and when you can get a good hold on the puppy and only with the contraction gently pull on the puppy. Be very carefull with it it doesn't take much to kill it. If it takes over 30 minutes get it out or get her to the vet. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck The time is per puppy now/ She may take an hour or so between puppies so be patient with her. However if there is any green discharge get her to the Vet. | Thanks for the timeline. I was curious about the approximate time before getting too excited. (I noticed you called it a wash 'rag'. That's a southern term. That's what we used to call it. I'm originally from Louisiana. We are you originally from?) |

| Wash rags here in MO too. I prefer to use paper towels when I'm doing it then I don't have more laundry, lol. I hope everything is ok!

| Any puppies yet? We call them wash "rags" and then there are dish "rags" sounds funny when you think about it. I have also heard a new pair of cotton gloves works well. I would be incredibly nervous too. I'm preparing for my first litter also. I wish you lots of luck. |

| Hi everyone, I was up all night checking on mom. A very trying whelp. I lost one little girl but gained two boys. The girl was the first to come out and got hung up at the neck and shoulder. Everything seemed to be going great, then right at the last needed push, mom couldn't give it and I couldn't get her out. By the time I made it to the vet, she was gone. I just can't understand why contractions would just stop like that. (not one more til we were almost to the vet and then she pushed her the rest of the way out). We were only in stage two for ~4 hrs. and had been at stage three for about 1 - 1.5 hrs. The girls right shoulder and head were stuck and everytime I tried a maneuver to pull the girl, mom would scream. BUT, on the bright side, the two boys are in great shape, very strong and mom is doing great. Thanks for all the thoughts this morning. I'll post pics of the boys a little latter. Aloha |
