| L.d. - Mentor I know that it is important to find a good mentor. What should one do who does not find one with in your city? Is there anyone interested in being a LD (Long Distance) Mentor. I found three breeders in San Antonio, that I plan to visit with this weekend, I already had to scratch one off my list because she said this is her first litter. I am looking for someone with experience, someone who can guide me and answer any question that arise, someone who know keeps in touch with their offspring so that you know exactly what you are producing. In your Opinion becasue I know I have read on this forum, should your "Breeding STock" be of Champion Blood Line? What if they meet the standard, in your opinion are they not quality? Not worth breeding? For anyone who would like to answer private please do so. I am very seriouse in researching for the next 2 years. I would like to gain as much information as possible along with finding a reputable breeder and mentor, whether it be locally or via emails and phone calls along with hopefully an occasional visit. I did try to look up shows in the area but didn't find any, I plan to continue to search so that I can go see "what a true specimen of the breed" should look like. Thanks for any advice. If you interested in looking at pictures of My Boy here he is: His Name is Sir Winston Hunter, call name Hunter he is AKC about 5 lbs 14 oz and right at 51 weeks of age. PS: I need advice on trimming the hair around his ears also...LOL The only flaw I can see is I think his ears may be to spread apart, other then that I think he has a wonderful loving temperment, very obediant, straight bite, although I need to check for adult teeth coming in (I din't know about the possibility of them growing along side a baby tooth). I plan to groom him this weekend and take some pics of him standing on the table to see how his carrage is and how his tail stands. I so loved CJ's webpage..LOL it really got me thinking. OK enough on to the pictures... LOL The first was taken last night so you could see his face. The second is of him laying down about a week or so ago and The third is a baby pic. The fourth is another baby picture |

| male I would clip the last third of the ear hair... No, I would not breed a male or female if the pedigree is not quality...you are asking the dogs to produce something they are not genetically able to do..unfair. We all fall in love with our Yorkies, but the proof of the pudding is earning the title. A champion will produce more pets then other champions...so what does a pet stud produce quality-wise...? Your male might well produce quality, but to find out, you must buy a quality bitch in hopes of getting decent pups..good luck |

| There are a number of reputable exhibitor breeders in your area.....visit the YTCA.org breeder section.....several shows all year around down there go to the onofrio.com website....it'll take you to upcoming shows. Yes, you should have a good pedigreed dog and bitch before you even consider breeding.....good champion blood lines. I was told years ago not to even consider buying a show dog unless it had 10 generations of champions behind it....

| You can also do an onofrio.com search, this is the superindent that handles most if not all the shows in Texas.
