| Puppy I.D. What do you use during whelping (and after) to i.d. your pups as they are born? I've heard of a little fingernail polish on the ear, a different color for each. Also, different color yarn around the neck. I was just wanting the best safe way to keep track of them so that I can accurately track their weight and such. Aloha |

| You might be surprised at how easy it is to tell them apart. I wouldn't, however, put anything around their neck; to easy for them to strangle. The nail polish thing works - I did it myself - only because I had two females that looked a lot alike. The other three in the litter were very distinct and I didn't need any ID for them. Good luck with your new litter. |

| Thank you both. I wasn't too keen on putting anything around their necks either. Aloha |

| We have used finger nail polish in the past, but we have two litters right now that are all so diff - there is no need. Of course we keep the litters seperated! We have a litter of four and a litter of three. They are so much fun!

| My girls have made it easy on me. They only have had 2 babies each time...a boy and a girl....they are pretty much self marking.

This is my first litter, so I think I'd still mark them for fear of being so nervous that I'd forget which was which. Seriously, I really hope I remain calm during all this, but when my girls were born, the human ones, I was as far from being calm as you can be. Well, hopefully this will be a 'family' welping and they'll have a calming effect on me. Aloha | |
