| Help finding a local breeder I'm having trouble finding a breeder in my area. I guess what I really mean is, I'm having trouble finding places to look up breeders. I have some names of Yorkie breeders from "Dog World Magazine", but there's only one lady in CO. Her Yorkies are 3K, and I really can't spend that much. So my question is, Should I, or would it be of any benifit to contact the other breeders and ask for referals? Are breeders in magazines "any good"? I'm wanting a quality/healthy yorkie, hopefully to breed in a couple of years. I'm afraind that's just going to turn every one away though. I'm only going to have one yorkie to breed, and she will not be bread every heat!! I'm running out of time, and I need some advice!! I'm looking to adopt a puppy in late April/early May. Thanks for anyones help!! |

| I am from Colorado and I searched for quite awhile and ended up driving 12 hours to get my two. The two breeders I checked locally were questionable. Prices were high and one of them wouldn't let me see the parents... they said it caused them too much stress. I didn't want to spend more than 1500.00 for a female. I bought my little girl for 1200.00 Good luck!!

| Finding a breeder who will give you breeder rights will be more difficult. Many breeders give what is called limited registration which prohibits you from getting papers for any litters you may have in the future. I am pretty sure that my breeder doesn't give full registration but her website is fantasyyorkies.com. Many people voiced their concerns when I went to Shirley, but I found her to be a very caring and loving person who LOVES her yorkies. They live on a large piece of land in MO and her husband is home with the dogs full time and she teaches. I have had no health problems with my puppies and Shirley continues to contact us even over a year and half later. We even got a Christmas card. Many disagree with the amount of dogs she has but I don't think that matters as long as they are loved and cared for. I would recommend her to anyone... however she isn't close

| Did you click on the nursery it looked like she had some girls... I would email her she is really good about getting back to you! She can tell you about up coming litters too. I would try the Colorado link someone else posted... I have heard there is an awesome lady in Ft. Collins... but that was after I already had mine. I don't know her name though. I would just be honest and up front. Breeders are very cautious because the good ones take breeding very seriously.

I looked at Fantasy's nursery, but I didn't see a litter from Fantasy's Fantasia. There is a litter at the top that the parents are not listed. | |
