| Opinion on a Breeder I have found a breeder here, and I admit that we're looking at one of the pups... But I'm not sure about this breeding situation. Would someone take a look at the website and let me know what you think? http://chrismark.com/ To me, this is borderline puppymill... but she does seem to spend 24/7 with her dogs, knows what she's doing, and the dogs are all friendly and happy. Would you buy from this breeder? P.S. - she also supposedly breeds for quality not quantity.

| Why so much disparity between the price of puppies? $500-$2500???? I know many charge a little more for females but it is usually not more than a couple hundred dollars difference. I don't necesarily think all kennels are puppymills. If they are taking every precaution for the dogs safety and health, if the place is clean, if they are giving personalized attention so the puppies are well socialized, if you just "feel" comfortable with their set up, then I do not think a kennel is a bad place to get your dog. I steered away from anyone not raising their dogs in their home. But that was a personal decision -- as it always makes me feel so bad for dogs (the "breeding stock") to be kept in a kennel and not a part of anyone's loving family. But I am sure some of the puppies raised this way have a better start, and more careful breeding than many of the inexperienced home breeders. So, you just have to take each one on a case-by-case basis and decide if you feel right about it. I would only use a mass-production kennel if you could see it for yourself. Multiple breeds is a red flag. I have a Jack Russell and a Dachshund but they are spayed. I would not have another breedable dog around if/when I breed my Yorkies. But if the kennel is caging the dogs anyway, they probably can keep them easily separated. It is a concern but not necessarily a worry. I probably have not been any help, but in the absence of any blatant reasons not to use a kennel, the final decision probably has to be a "gut decision" based on what you see and feel from the facility and the owner.

| Starlight's Yorkies Good luck trying to get in touch with this breeder. Back in December, I was interested in one of their pups. I emailed the breeder about seeing the puppy and never received a response. Thinking that they may not check email, I called and left a message (actually I called every couple of days for about a week and left messages). I NEVER heard from them. |

| Oh really? She's been emailing with me... but I wasn't so sure about the setup and if that's a good background for my new little pup. I'm still not so sure. She is local, and I could easily drive out there to check her out and would for sure pick the pup up in person if I chose to do this... but again I'm just not real comfortable yet. I think it's the mass breeding and mass breeds that it reminds me too much of a puppy mill...

| I agree - more than 2 breeds not best idea. I don't really like her look in yorkies. Faces don't appeal to me and all of them are outside. Looks like they are either kept outdoors and in cages inside. I could be totally wrong - but just based on pictures it what I got out of it. I also do not like when people have visa signs are their sites. Tells me it is a business. T. Last edited by topknot; 01-29-2007 at 02:30 PM. |

| Now here - Huckleberry Finn in the stud section is nice and only one I liked. Most have long pointed noses. His is very nice. Ruff is too light and has a wavy coat. But Finn - very nice! T. |

| When in doubt, better safe than sorry. If you get a pup with health problems (from anyone) it costs more to treat them than to just go to a reputable breeder in the first place...IMO-you should go to someone you have been referred to by a happy Yorkie owner...

| she does have a lot of breeds but you have to admit, the kennel looks clean and well run. Dogs are all clean and healthy looking. All the dogs are very cute. I would love to have that solid black pom. i better hush while I'm ahead tho. I might end up being a puppymill if i have more than one breed. LOL |

| I was looking at Quinn.... I told her I was going to pass though. I'm just too uneasy, and she was asking more than I was willing to pay....

| If you feel uneasy about any aspect of this setup, you shouldn't get a puppy from them, imho. When I got Remy, everything felt right. I believe in always trusting your gut feeling. Good luck and let us know what you decide. |
