| Question for breeders.... I would like to know at what age you all start feeding your pups from a dish and also what you start them out on? If you could all just give me an idea of your recipes. My grandmother always swore by mixing in cottage cheese with the softened hard food. I have seen a few on here that start with milk mixed with baby cereal? Do any of you think this is better? And if so, when do you start mixing in the hard food and stop the milk? Also, what do you find easier grinding the hard food up or just soaking with water? Just curious as I am getting ready to start feeding mine at 3 weeks and just wondering how many different recipes some of you use. Thanks for any replies!

| Usually at 4 weeks for me. I start with a soupy mixture of arm water and puppy kibble pulverized in blender. My 3 week olds are trying to get in moms dish so I'll start whipping some up for them to taste soon. When they get teeth, I start adding a few pieces of kibble. If it isn't appetizing enough, I'll add some canned dog food. Eventually more and more kibble. Less of everything else. |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Mine is 5 weeks and I started her around 4 1/2 with just some warmed up soft canned food. she's still nursing full time but she's been taking a couple licks and tastes here and there. Once she's eating more of it I'll soften the puppy kibble with warm water and try her on that and offer her both. Of course its hard keeping mom out of it. she wants to eat it all and poor baby gets none!! So baby gets special feeding times by herself. |
