New born and a little older questions. How old are your babies when you shave their ears the first time? How old are your babies when you give them their first baths? Have you ever heard of dipping a newborn in warm water to warm them up? Have you ever heard of anyone doing the tails and dewclaws within hours after birth? Sylvia

pups I start bathing and ear clipping at 6 weeks...they need to be used to grooming before the new owner gets them..so I do mine every week there after. No need to put them in warm water..then you have a wet pup and have to blow them dry..I have put a wash cloth in the microwave to warm it then wrapped the pup in it for a few minutes...make sure it is warm and not hot. I know Boxer and large breed breeders who do tails the first day, but not Yorkies..too much stress.

I've heard of what you're talking about, you put their body in a open plastic baggie to keep them from getting wet. I haven't done it, I'd rather use a warm hair dryer form warmth.

| I trim ears on puppies before they open their eyes. 1st bath a few days after their 1st shots. Tails and dew claws 3-5 days (dependent on the size of the pup).

It's best to shave the ears right away so the hair doesn't weight them down.
