| Way tooooooo early for deposits. Anything could happen then you would have to give their money back or another puppy. I never take deposits till way later. |

| Our last litter I took depostis on the two girls when they were about a week old. Obviously, if something health wise had happened, it would have been refunded, no questions asked. The girl (and her mother) knew this was what they wanted when they made the decision. My take on it is this...ANYONE can just say, "yes I want this puppy, hold it for me" and then change their mind down the road or after XXX number of people have already been told the puppy is spoken for. I know if they put $$ down, they are SERIOUS. In the end, it is THIER decision to do or not to do...I'm not going to force prospective owners to do anything, but I'm not going to put myself in the position where someone comes back and says, "ooops, I changed my mind" the day before the pup goes home and have turned away people. If they don't want to put $$ down until the pup is older, that is fine, but if someone else comes along who DOES want to do so, then I won't turn them away. |

| deposits I had no problem taking a deposit when I had several males in a litter...chances were I would not be keeping more then one at any given time...I had a litter of 5 males once. A lady was pestering me to get one...she had lost several on other waiting lists..so I told her I would promise a pup..not sure which one, but out of 5 boys there was a 100% she would get one, unless they all died or were sick.....I kept one and finished him..3 were tinies and the other was a big boy..so I actually wind up with 4 to place...she took the biggest one... What I do not like is promising a certain puppy...who knows until later if a pup is suitable for anyone...the smallest at birth may be the biggest..they change...what if one turns out to have a nicer coat or more outgoing then the others..I would not lock myself into a newborn..but would put a deposit down to pick one of my choice at 12 weeks.. |

For example, with this past litter, we had one boy who just seemed to be everyone's favorite. He was calmer and sweeter than the other two boys. Everyone that looked at the pups wanted him. One lady told me that she wanted to make her final decision closer to 12 weeks (which is fine) but that he was the only one she wanted to consider taking (also fine). However, I told her I would NOT hold him until that day IF someone else came along in the mean time who wanted him. As it turned out, someone did. I can't see where it would be fair to tell the man who chose him, 'well, you can come back in 12 weeks and IF Mary Sue doesn't want him, you can have him.' | |

| This last time, I put a deposit on "first pick of the girls" when the litter was only a couple of weeks old. Then I got to delay making my choice until they were 6 weeks old. I think she would have waited longer for the deposit as I had been on her waiting list for a while. But I wanted to make sure I did get first pick. Then when it came time to pick, I would have taken either one of them -- they were both beautiful. I wouldn't want to make a sure choice though until they were at least 6 weeks old.

| When I got Autumn no one even knew the breeder had a litter. They were a week and a half old at the time. He wasn't going to advertise until they were 6 weeks. I had just happened to have stopped by to talk to him about getting a puppy if he had any soon. I paid the entire $400 up front so that I was ensured pick of the litter. There were only 3 girls in the litter Autumn came from and he didn't advertise her sisters until after I had brought Autumn home. I had my heart set on her from 2 weeks of age, but even when I went to pick her up he gave me the choice of all three just to make sure she was the one I wanted.

| deposits When I take a deposit, it means you will get a puppy if you want one...but it will be the one or ones I do not want...then I go to the first person waiting or who has a deposit down..if they do not see anything they want, then the money is returned..nothing lost...and I go to the next person waiting. I will never promise any ceratin puppy to anyone one person under 8 weeks...then they wait another 4 weeks to pick the pup up. I have had people pick a pup at 8 weeks and then at 12 decide they liked another better..fine, if that pup is not promised they may switch. I never show people the pups that are not for sale to that person. (meaning, I never show you a pup that another has a deposit on or one I am keeping)..it makes for a shorter day and people sometimes decide they want a pup that may not be right for them IMO...so they see what I think is best for them..they are free to go else where if it does not suit them...I have been shown only the pups they breeder wanted to sell to me and not the entire kennel..take it or leave it..I was curious, but that is the breeders way of doing it..mine also. Most show another breeder the litter so they can see litter quality, but ceratinly not all. When I was grooming sometimes people would take a look at my pups and see one they had to have...fine, if it is one I do not want or have promised...I always tell people, if the first buyer backs out they may be second or whatever... When it all gets to be too much fuss..I tell people nothing is for sale and wait a few more days for a whole new batch of callers..LOL Seriously, Yorkies are so popular, I have never found it hard to sell anything of any age or sex, size or color...so I never keep a deposit or insist someone take a pup if they are having second or third thoughts..works well for my peace of mind. | If I would take a deposit, the buyer would definitely get their money back when I take the puppy to the and IF she would find something life threatening to the baby.My babies always get vet checked before going to their new home. They also have shots and been wormed numerous times.I would never intentionalyy sell a sick puppy to someone.
