| eye color The canine optomaligist (sp) explained it to me once, but I can not begin to repeat it..greenish shades of eye flash and the coat runs silk..reds/amber, reddish yellow tends to run soft/cotton...I have never had it to fail. What tends to confuse people is the different shades...there is a big difference in yellowish green and the yellowish tint in a red hue. |

| I don't know. I've always heard that green means that they have a silky coat. But Sadie's always look green & I"ve always thought her coat was more cottony. It's shiny, but very curly & mats easily.

| Okay, I TRIED to read that and understand it! If it all has to do with coloring/pigment....then are all cotton-coated yorkies PALER? Are there no cotton-coats with the gold/black coloring? And are there no blond/silver yorkies with silky coats?! I know this is confusing....but I'm confused! (by the way, I have one silky coated girl, and one cotton coated, and yep, the eye thing works on them, and yep, cotton-coated girl is more washed out colors)

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | I'm sorry (again! *sigh*) That I don't have more recent pix of Abigail; but, we just don't have a good digital (yet). Though this picture makes her look like alien dog, I think it's a good example of the eye color / coat color connection. She is a Silk.
