My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | XRAY dates is set for day 58??? So i called my vet and set my appointment and the next available one is Dec 16th! Well the next available one that isn't M-F between 8 and 5 ! Will this be ok???? Also, why do the help who answer the phones have no clue what your talking about? She ask me why I want an xray? When I explained you said "oh you must have done this before". They have NO clue??!!! Doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy, but my vet himself is good. I don't care for his help at all. So I hope this is ok...... |

| I had Chloe's x-ray done on day 61 (I had taken her to another vet two weeks earlier who really p/./..d me off.) Anyway, neither vet had an ultrasound. Vet #2 did the x-ray the day before the pups arrived. It was fascinating, showed four pups, one already well into the birth canal. Imagine my surprise when pup number five popped out! X-rays aren't nearly as accurate as an ultrasound, so be prepared! |

| Ultrasounds are done in early pregnancy usually from 21-35 days from the first breeding. This is done to confirm pregnancy, they could try counting but not very reliable since everyone is moving. X-rays are usually done past day 45 when the bones are calcified. This is done to know how many puppies to expect (When to called it a night) and to see if there are any big one to be concerned about. Counting of spines (or heads) is done here and can still be off by 1 or 2 or more. They could be hiding behind eachother or up in the rib cage. HTH. |
