| Thinking of letting Dusty start dating. I think I will stud Dusty out maybe in January. I still have a few guestions. I am worried that if I use him for a stud he will be humping everything in sight. I have a three year old girl and she would freak out. I dont want to have to put him up everytime we have guest. What are the drawbacks of him being a stud? He is 8 months old ,AKC, 3 pounds He has a loving pearsonality and is very healthy. Is there any other bad side effects I should be worried about? |

| my little stud dog hasn't changed in any way since he got his first ummmmmmmm well, you kno. thee only timee he is any different at all is when someonee is in heat but if they are crated and keept away from him, he isn't too bad. You need to have testing on him before you stud him out. My local vet did mine and knew what kind to do. |

| I don't think there is a way to tell, really. I think it differs from dog to dog. I know several people who never noticed a difference in their males. With Cody, once he was used as a stud, he changed alot. He would hike his leg, not eat and sit and shake all over when there was a female in heat. Even when there wasn't, he'd just sit at the door and whine and shake sometimes. He has since been neutered and no longer does these things, but it was enough to drive you nuts sometimes. |

| He's a keeper. He is a doll. You are very fortunate to have such a cutie. I would think the drawbacks that you mentioned would be sufficient reason not to use him for stud. Especially the 3 yr old daughter being frightened. I wouldn't think she needs to deal with such as that. Quote:

| The drawbacks: Marking Humping Aggression toward other males - Yorkies will pick fights with dogs they don't possibly have a chance against Roaming - they can smell a female in heat blocks away Testicular cancer Those are the common ones, but I will say that I have an extremely well behaved stud, but I've never seen him around another male. He is 1 in million though, even when my females are in heat he notices right away, but just gives sweet kisses and then goes off to hump his blankie. They never even have to growl at him because he knows exactly when they no longer have a headache! |

| I'd wait a bit longer than Jan. He should be at least a year old otherwise it kinda messes with their heads. You want him to be mature enough in body and mind.
