| Shaving the ears... Ok so I called my dad who bread yorkies while I was growing up and asked him at what age he shaved the ears so they could start to stand on their own. He told me that he and my step mom use to tape them. (I do remember that) I wanted to do this with out tape! So Breeders out there at what age do you shave the ears? the pups are 7 1/2 weeks now and are getting so cute. I have them use to the blow dryer and the bath and nail clipings(As use to it as possible they have had 2 baths)... ready to bring in the clippers now! Also do you shave the entire inside like you do on the adults dogs and v shape the back? or shave it all till they stand? Thanks guys! |

| shave just like you would an adult ear 1/3 outside...if the puppy ears are stubborn, not standing by about 10-11 weeks is when I might shave 1/2 down and tape for a day or two... hope this helps

| This is our first litter, and I have shaved them like I do the parents. Also instead of putting all the tape on their ears to start with, I just put a peice of masking tape on the inside of the ears. It does seem to keep their ears up. When I see that it is starting to come off I take it off right away, and I also keep a really close eye on them so they don't end up eating the peice of tape.

| Either way is fine. No hard-and-fast rules. Just whatever works. I tried the tape on my girls, and it bothered them so badly that they scratched their ears raw. Then, they bit each other's ears and dragged each other around (all in play) so much that now, their ears won't stand at all. Grace's were just starting to stand when we bought Angel, and now they just go about 1/2-way up. It was quite frustrating for me, but oh, well. They are still adorable. |

| I shave all the way down before they even open their eyes. Have only had a problem with one puppy during the time it was while the puppy was teething. I just taped it up with breath rite strips and duo eyelash glue for a couple of days.

| I start shaving ears and rears at 2 weeks old. Then, I keep it up every 2 weeks.

| The woman I got Max from had never shaved his ears and his were both down but trying to stand. When I took him for shots the vet shaved them and within a few days they were up. He has a lot of hair on his ears and they were just too heavy. My vet said most of the time shaving is enough but if they are stubborn you might need to tape.
