My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Help with a first time stud male please Ok - at first my male wanted nothing to do with my female in heat and now he's trying like crazy BUT is not achieving penitration. He's going crazy to the the he's wearing himself out. I hold her, I hold him.,...still not working. And he gets distracted if I trying to push his rear in closer on her. She's standing perfect for him. He's shorter than her but I don't think thats too big of deal. Breeders? Any advice? He's young, 9 months and this is his first experience. |

| I would never entertain the idea of using a male much less than a year old, a few weeks short of a year maybe but never 9 months. He is a baby himself at that age. |

Is it ok to leave them together (supervised) or should I seperate them. Does it make a difference?

| I just let my male who is 1 years who is only 4 lbs breed my large female who is 8lbs it took him 3 days to hit the bull eye, so we will see if with puppies, he wouldn't let anyone or anything help him he had to do it own his own.

| I would separate them some just to give him a break. Other wise I'm not help. Titan was 10 months and tied Roxi (almost twice his size) a couple of times with out a lot of trying. We saw him go up to her, hop on and then a couple of seconds later they were stuck.

| I think he is too young. My Gizmo could tie, but his swimmers weren't swimming until he was a year old. I think you might have to wait until next cycle.

| How long has she did in season? If It's his first time it will take a little longer for him to learn to find the right spot. Both of my studs did this and the one I usally use goes right to it. but 7 months is a little young I think, but the vet said from 7 months on. My little guy got tie with the female 3 times.

Next heat if you persist in breeding them, he will be older. Some never do figure it out. This is where a mentor who is local would come in for help.
