Uterine Intertia I'm thinking to take Tiah to the vet even though she seems fine. She is just so huge and I am concerned about Uterine Inertia. She ate some of her breakfast, her eyes are bright and shiny, her walk/trot is still nice and energetic, her personality is great.....but, she looks ready to pop. With uterine inertia, all can seem well and fine when it is not. She has never had a problem in the past, but then again, she has NEVER been this huge, which is what could cause the inertia. Oh boy......anybody want to put their 2 cents in?

I was going to take her for a little walk, but now I am not. It would be a normal thing to do if she doesn't have uterine inertia, but if she does have it, I'm afraid something could rupture.

He due date was just yesterday, right? I would give her a bit more time if so...I know last time Trixie was due on a Friday and didn't go until Tuesday. Can you feel if any of the pups have moved lower? Call your vet and ask if to be safe.

| I would call your vet if you are worried at all! Let them know your concerns and see if he thinks you should bring her in.

If I count the days, yesterday was her due date. I have been online reading and reading and reading about whelping (something I tend to do compulsively before each litter), and the chart says she is due today. I really don't want to jump the gun here and rush into something that isn't necessary. I will wait and see how she does. But, if nothing by tomorrow, I know I will take her in. The pups have slowed down on their activities and seem to be in position. You know how they say "A watched pot won't boil"....I feel like "A watched due Yorkie will not go into labor". I should go mow the lawn or something....

Though I will take her to the vet at the slightest abnormal movement! When I call the vet, they always say "Bring him/her in". All vets do around here....afraid of being sued by giving info out over the phone I think.

I called my vet....he went to his other office for the rest of the day. I called all over....NO LUCK! My Mom and I use the same vet....she called the office again for me and was told we could bring her in at 5:00 and she'd try to get the doctor to come back to this office. I'll post as soon as we get back. ????

What are her due dates? Just because she is large with pups, doesn't mean that interia will occur. It is more common for it to occur after the start of labor. Labor will proceed normally and then come to a stop. More often then not, it is after the first pup or 2 has been born. The uterus - which has been stretched to its limits, stays stretched after the pup is born and th euterus becomes inactive or shuts down. I personally do not like to run my girls to the Vet if I do not know there is a problem. Too many germs even at the cleanest Vet! Good luck, Charlie Evenstar Yorkies
