| Zoie is 7 months old. She has what I think is wooly hair, it's very thick and poufy. I posted this on the regular board and no one replied. I hope it's okay that I post this here since it's directed more to breeders. Zoie is 7 months old. She has what I think is wooly hair, it's very thick and poufy. The only thing that makes it lay down is lots of conditioner. Even then, it doesn't lay like a silky. Her black is intermingled with tan and she doesn't have the tan face that alot of yorkies have on here. She still has lots of black. The top of her head looks sooty. I'm trying to learn about proper color and texture and in doing so have decided that she isn't "standard." I'm not breeding her because of this and because she's under 5 pounds (she weighs under 3 1/2 now). She's been spayed, so I'm just wanting opinoins about what she will look like as an adult, will her color ever take on the blue sheen or will she be black and tan forever. When she was a baby her black had the blue sheen to it, but that's when she had the puppy silky coat at very very young. According to the info posted here, this is my guess of her as an adult: "A puppy approaching adulthood with a thick heavy coat that has pale cream colored legs, sooty head colors, with intermingled black hairs in tan at sides of hear and on the ear and ear fringes, may as an adult diminish some of these black and sooty hairs. Its desired blue area may eventually achieve a transition from black to grey but it will never have a clear golden tan, or a dark steel-blue. The coat texture is either a wooly or cottony." What do you think? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Is that her in your avatar ? A pic would help and I didn't really understand the question - but am thinking you were asking what her coat would be as an adult ? My Chanel had really think hair as a puppy - she is NOT Silky at all and I work pretty hard keeping her hair in good shape. Some days I just want to cut it - but it's so 'HER' I never can. It's much harder to care for a cotton coat than a silky. I don't consider her wooly at all - just cotton coated - her hair is very soft. There's a few just gorgeous cotton coats here - Brutus is one - KimMee is another - I love the look ....but you're right ...it's not standard |

| Yes, that's her in my avatar. Her hair is combed down there, it normally fluffs out and up and she looks so much bigger than she really is... Yes, my question is what do you think her adult hair will be like? Will her coloring be proper? Her hair won't turn silky I assume. |

As far as colors - I LOVE the color your yorkie has. I love Chanels colors too - they vary so much but are very pretty to see in person. Actually your baby in the avatar reminds me of Chanel when she was younger - she's 4 now. Her hair can make her look bigger than she is too - I try to keep her a bit thinned because it's just too hard on both of us. When she turned about 2 it was obvious she was always going to have alot of hair so I started using some really good products on her - it helps alot. Sea Breeze oil is great to help it lay flat and keep it moisturized. | |

| Thanks Villette and Dianne!!! Zoie is really pretty! I think she does look like Chanel in the colors!! You are right. A mix of colors is a good way to put it. I haven't tried Seabreeze yet, but it's next on the list. Right now I'm able to keep it soft and almost mat free with Aussie 3 minute miracle. I also just got show sheen too and it made combing her out a breeze yesterday! I do hope she turns out like Chanel, her coat is beautiful and I'll have to go look for the other dogs you mentioned! |
