| 2 Expecting Females in Same House?!?! Gracie is about 4 weeks pregnant. Angel just went into heat. (SIGH!!) That means that if things go as scheduled (do they ever?), Gracie's pups will be around 5 weeks old when Angel's are born. UGH!!! Ok, here's my question. What can I expect from these two during pregnancies? I mean as far as how they will get along. IF they will get along. What problems should I expect, if any, and how should I prepare ahead of time for these problems? I don't want to be caught off guard. I guess I should have expected this, since females that live together tend to cycle together. Right? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I have 2 friends that had multiple pregnant females at one time in their houses and their dogs got along just fine but you never can be sure. I'd keep them in seperate parts of the house...especially during whelping and after whelping. You don't want to stress the moms out.

| Thank you, Kimberly. Yes, I knew to keep them separated during whelping & after, but it's the next 5-10 weeks that concerned me. I will just make sure they are penned up separately when I leave the house, and I'll watch them like a hawk when I'm home. They usually just sleep all day anyway! |

| My Yorkie had puppies May 11th and my Maltese had puppies on May 18th. They did fine with each other during the pregnancy. The Maltese keep trying to take the Yorkies puppies from her. I guess she couldn't wait for her own to come. But once she had her own she didn't want anything to do with the Yorkies. Having 5 puppies was a handful. We have three left now. Trying to potty train three puppies to a pee pad in not easy. Puppies are hard work but a lot of fun. Congrats and good luck. |

| Well, Ginger (6 yrs) and Cujo (4 yrs) BOTH had puppies three days apart!! Cujo had hers on the 28th of Oct and Ginger had hers on the 31st!! Ginger kept trying to seal Cujo's. Cujo kept her away til the pups were about 4 1/2 weeks old. Then Cujo just decided that if Ginger wanted them, she could have them!! She was tired of feeding them anyway. Besides, they have teeth at that age!! For the most part, they got along just fine. There were times that they didn't see eye to eye on things, but they got over it. Really, I don't think it was a matter of stress for the moms or the kids, but the humans had their fair share of it!! Good luck with yours!! Suz

| We had 3 litters born in December 2005. Two of them whelped the same day, one in the morning and one in the evening. The last was born on the 23rd. All the girls got along just fine. It totaled 10 puppies altogether. The dogs did fine, we went a tad crazy.

| So, once they are mobile, how did you keep them with the right mom?? Being born that close together, that would be CONFUSING, at best! |

| I have one due Thursday and another due on the 30th. My hubby built me a huge pen that I keep in my office. Each dog has its own side, but the middle separator can come out to make one large pen. It's 8 ft. long by about 3 ft. wide. I wanted a place for my dogs that they could whelp and raise their puppies in peace! Then, when the mamas are weaning, I can let them out and the puppies will have a nice place to play and I won't have to worry about them being under foot.

When they got to about 7 weeks old, I'd let the babies play together and then when mommies came back in, they went to their own nursery. Like I said it was a crazy time and I wouldn't want to do 3 again, 2 maybe but never 3. I ended up keeping two of the girls.

| I have two females due this week, another one due in two weeks... plus... my Wilma is currently at Sherry's house (yorkiegirl2).... doing the "deed" with her Fred. I have separate pens for the moms (and pups)... plus... Sherry is going to help me out ....... WHAT A PAL!! (Thanks Sherry!!). I had two females give birth in January three days apart.... after they were weaned from the moms... the pups were merged together to play/sleep. It all works out!!! Best of luck with your new additions.

| They just KNOW who "mom" is. It is kind of funny to watch them figure it out tho. Kind of like taste testing . Sometimes, I think, the mom doesn't know for sure which ones are hers. But the pups do!! Suz

| For all of those of you who are expecting with other dogs in the house - read Mrs. H. post about a neighbor dog killing all of the puppies. |
