| Female Pregnancy Question Jasmine was bred four times starting on June 3rd through June 10th. She had a false pregnancy the first time about six months ago. Does anyone recommend I get an ultrasound this time? I really don't want to go through what I did before. She gained 2 1/2 pounds, was grouchy and even produced colostrum and she wasn't even pregnant the first go round. I know I have a few weeks to get her checked out but I am curious. The breeder of the stud suggested I just wait instead of wasting that kind of money but I would like to know this time. Any comments??? |

| Mollie's first heat cycle resulted in a false pregnancy but, I did not breed her the first time. Her second heat cycle I did breed her and she had a normal pregnancy and birth. I didn't have any x-rays things keep coming up and I wasn't able to take her to have any. I did however take her to the vet about 4 weeks after she was breed to see if she was pregnant just by an external examination, she was the vet said she felt 3 and wanted me to come back for an x-ray she thought she may have to have a c-section thank goodness she didn't have to. If you would feel better having x-rays or ultrasound than by all means do it. I'm sure your vet will suggest x-rays. How exciting. Keep us posted and good luck.

| Thanks for the quick response. The breeder of the stud and myself seem to think we didn't hit the exact "heat" time with Jasmine the first go round about six months ago. She said the male was all over her more this time and she accepted it better. I hope that is a good sign. So, around 4 weeks is a good time to get her checked out? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | With x-rays and ultrasounds, you have to wait until they are much further along in their pregnancy. In a couple of weeks, your vet may be able to palpate her to determine if the breeding was successful. I had an ultrasound done with Gracie's first litter. She was close to 50 days pregnant when she had it done. The ultrasound showed one pup...she had 4.

| Jasmine is not the pup in my avatar. That is my male. Jasmine weighs 7 pounds and was bred to a beautiful four pound male. I'm trying not to get too excited but I know they would have gorgeous pups. My vet. prices are so outrageous. I am in the process of trying to find an excellent vet. at a cheaper price. I was charged $50 just to tell me that she had a false pregnancy the last time. That is crazy! |
