| I Need Advice.... Hi Everyone! I Have A Question, And Hopefully Someone That Knows A Little Bit More About Yorkies Can Help Me Out. I Have Been Recently Looking Around For Someone That Is Selling A Puppy Yorkie At An Affordable Price... Well I Have About Three People That Are Willing To Give Me One For A Price That Is Reasonable Enough For Me, But I Came Across This One Guy That Is Selling One For $485.00 Shipping Included, But He Said He Would Send The Puppy Through Dhl, What I Believe Is A Service Similiar To Ups And Fed Ex. He Told Me That The Puppy Would Be Sent In A Carrier Box With Holes, But It Would Take 3-9 Days For The Puppy To Get Here. Is That Safe????? See As Far As I Knew, Companies Like That Didn't Ship Animals? I Mean, Maybe I Am Confused But... I Can't Understand How They Can Ship A Puppy... In A Small Box... With No Food Or Water... For 3-9 Days?!?! Does Anyone Know What I Am Talking About? If This Puppy Would Be Without Food And Water For That Long, There Is No Way That I Would Consider Purchasing A Yorkie From This Guy. I Am A Little Worried About That. Even Though $485 Is A Great Price, But It Is Not Worth Putting A Little Puppy Through That For Me. Also, I Am Worried About Purchasing A Puppy From Someone I Don't Know. Is There Anything I Can Do If I Recieve The Puppy And It's Sick, Or Something Else Is Wrong With It? I Am New To All Of This, So Can Anyone Give Me Any Advice, Or Let Me Know Of Anything I Should Be Aware Of? Thank You So Much!!! Melanie |

| As far as I know DHL doesn't ship live animals either. I do know that there are several animal ground transportation co. that drive across the country in a van and deliver animals, but that service is expensive. When we were looking at shipping Dozer (he came from OK) we looked into that and it was going to be like $300 and take like 5 days. It's supposed to be safer for the dogs and they provide rest stops, ect when they let the animals out to walk around and feed them, ect... |

| Hi Melanie - I think you're right to be weary of someone shipping a puppy like that. It's not something I have EVER heard of. I feel iffy about shipping a puppy on airlines, I can't imagine a courier service. If shipping is the only possible way to go, you'll want to make sure you have a good health contract, stating that if the puppy is in poor health when you recieve it (and stating what constitutes poor health) that you will either get vet bills reimbursed or a replacement puppy. I would do my research on any breeder - if you happen to find them online, run their name and kennel name through at least three different search engines to see if anyone has complained, as well as running it by the people here. I know it's hard to find a puppy, but with patience and time, you'll find one in your price range from a breeder you feel comfortable buying from. My husband is in the Air Force, so I know how the money thing is. We saved for a long time as well as using money from our tax return for Tia (my Yorkie). It was worth the wait in the long run to be able to get the kind of puppy I wanted from a breeder I was comfortable with.

| Sending a puppy through DHL just does not sound right, and it MAY be a scam. Please be careful when dealing with Internet Yorkie sellers, unless you can meet them in person, it's very hard to tell if the person is legit or not, and even sometimes you can meet them in person, and still not tell. |

| I know just how much patience you must have when searching for a yorkie. I searched for Bailey for almost a year It was very difficult to say "No thanks" to people I didn't feel comfortable with, while looking. I wanted one now! The wait is worth it, I promise. If you're worried about receiving an unhealthy pup, I'd search just locally for a pup. We took a chance having our ddb shipped to us, but everything was fine. He was the dog we paid for & couldn't be happier with him. However, I've heard horror stories about people having animals shipped and don't know if we'd take that chance again... Good luck & keep us updated |

| Yeah...it Is Kinda Frustrating... The Only Problem With Searching Locally, Is That I Live In Yuma, Arizona (my Husband Is A Marine, And Were Stationed Here), And Yuma Arizona Is Nothing But Desert... And There Aren't A Lot Of Yorkie Breeders Around Here, I Have Been Researching On That. But I Have Been Looking Into San Diego Ca, Because It's Close To Us, So At Least That Way, I Could Meet The Breeder, And Feel A Little More Comfortable With Purchasing A Dog From He/she. But I Will Keep Everyone Up To Date On My Search Thanks Again |

| oh my gosh! That means she was lying to me! See, cause she told me that the puppy would be shipped through DHL, and I emailed her back asking if that was really safe... and she emailed and was all like yeah it's safe, and that the puppy will be covered by insurance or something... Very very strange.... Her email address is wranglers_farm@fastermail.com and the name is Morgan Kelvin... but don't know if that's the right name or not, cause I really wouldn't be surprised if thats a lie too... Not sure if it's a female or male, but the name sounds like a female so.... I don't know... all I know is I will not be purchasing a puppy from that person!!! Thanks everyone for the help!!! | PlatinumYorkies WTG glad you found out!!! that was a very scary thought! Good advice to report this person and post it on breeder beware! couldnt imagine a poor pup on that long of a trip! NO ONE WOULD SHIP LIKE THAT, most would only ship on a direct flight! airlines shipping live cargo pricing ranges between $92.00 from alaska airlines to $169.00 to the eastcoast. Cuddled Critters Limousine is great but a bit slow they transport in small bus type vans. That is always my first choice! http://www.cuddledcritterslimousine.com/

| I know- I can't believe someone would even consider sending any kind of animal that way... Obviously they are careless and don't care about their puppies. I don't care if someone was willing on giving me a yorkie for no cost, if they were considering shipping her in a little box with little holes for 3-9 traveling days, there's no way I would agree to that! How cruel. But speaking of animal cruelty, my mom and I were at the store today, and when we walked outside we noticed these two little dogs in this car. Mind you, I live in Yuma Arizona, and it had to of been about 95 degrees outside (meaning it was A LOT hotter inside that car), and these people had left their dogs in there while they had went inside the store!!! I was FURIOUS! I called the humane society and reported them for doing it. My mom was about to cry over it. I can't believe somebody would do that. People like that shouldn't have pets. Those poor little pups Just thought I'd share with ya'll! I am still searching for me a yorkie, and when I find her, I will be so excited so I will for sure post pics and tell you guys all about her!!!!!!! Thanks for the tips and info.. I appreciate it. And I will be sure to find someone very trustworthy when it comes to picking out a breeder! Love Melanie |
