First Yorkie, question on weight gain I hope this is the right forum for this guestion. I am wondering if you could give me some advice as to whether my pup is gaining enough weight? She is eating normally (4 or five times a day< dry and moist) she also gets nutrical 3x a day. She also is very lively, active and healthy acting. She was 1 lb 6 oz at 9 weeks and now at 12.5 weeks she is 1 lb and 8 oz. Her sire is 3.5 lbs and dam is 4.5 lbs. I have never had a yorkie before so I am not sure what kind of increases I should look for in her weight as my Maltese was about 1/4 lb ahead of her at this time and seemed to gain a little more frequently. Thank you MaryKay (Mom to Bailey, Bitsy-Roo and AprilLove)

weight She is quite tiny having only gained 2 ozs in 3 weeks..if she is active, alert, playful and eats well like you say, I would not be worried...but I would keep a close eye on her..Nutra-cal is good..and everything else you are giving her...I would be careful not to sgtress her with too much commotion, traveling, playing with other dogs until she grows a bit. Best wishes

As long as she is eating and pooping and getting her nutri cal..... I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on her food intake and make sure she eats. Pat was right to say the increase seems really little but if she is eating..... not much to worry about. You might just have a really little guy there.... in which case you need to keep close watch!
