| what would you do??? This is so hard for me. I'm crying as I type, my little "lover boy" that I was raising for stud has grade 1 Luxating petellas in both rear legs. My vet said not to breed so we ARE NOT but he also said a Yorkie owner had come in with a dog like that but much worse-- needing surgery and that they had paid $1800.00 for the dog!! If you were the breeder what would you do if you found you had sold someone a puppy and it needed surgery to fix this problem?? |

| I have a question for you. Wasn't this puppy vet checked prior to being sold for $1800? If he was checked, the vet should have found this at that time as this is a genetic defect and the puppy should never have been sold for that price!!! If this was a puppy of mine, obviously this was the breeder's error, I would give a refund or a new baby. I have a male yorkie with the same thing in his rear right leg and my vet says he should not be used for breeding because this will make it worse and pass it on to the pups. Hope this helped! Donating YT 30K Club Member | Oh I'm so sorry. Cali has grade 1 LP and mild MVD, and I paid 1500.00 for her. I did not have a guarantee other than a vet check, I learned so much since joining YT, I did let the breeder know and she is not going to breed Cali's parents anymore. She did not offer anything and I did not ask since there was no guarantee. I know now that a 1 year guarantee is the way to go. So I think it realy comes down to what gurantee you have and if the breeder is very ethical.

| My male that is 1 year old has this but I don't know what grade it is but he has had surgery for this on both knees, he has pins in his legs. well to make a long story short he had surgery in jan. and now he has to have it again due to the pin is too long on his right leg. so I talked to the breeder she said she would send me another pup and just keep him as a pet, but I said No i don't want another pup I want to keep my little 3 pounder baby, so I shipped him back to her and she is having her vet fix his right leg, and she is paying for everything shipping cost there and home and bill. he will be gone for 2 weeks, i already miss his little butt |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Did you sign a contract with this breeder and was there a guarantee against genetic defects??? Sorry to hear about your furbaby. It's disheartening and it's something that you don't want to pass on. Best of luck.
