I Love Thor Donating Member | Do you think they know they are about to pop babies out? DO you guys think that dogs know why they are getting huge and uncomfortable? And do you think they are expecting to be bambarded with little babies? I was just thinking that since they don't "go talk to a doctor about what is happening to them" they prolly get a little shocker when they end up with babies. Especially dogs that get AI. Maybe it's just me, but I think I would be like good God where did these things come from? Any input...thanks! |

Well they might not know the first time, but I bet they don't forget after that. He-- there are humans out there that have babies and claim to not know they were pregnant.

I would think their first time is a shocker but after that they know. Or at least I think they know.

I think the first time is a shocker, but as soon she sees her pups her maternal instincts kick in.

moms I have seen females act so funny...one of my girls growled at her belly the first time she was pregnant..she would look down, cock her head and growl...the pups were no doubt moving around. I have seen females get very upset when labor started..then suddenly a puppy pops out and you see this light blub go on in their head..after that they are not afraid and calm down..pain scares dogs, but once they know what is going on, I find they relax. One of my girls was bred 3 times and each time it was one pup and a section was needed...the second time I took her to the vet and she ran down the hall barking, very excited..she knew she was there to get her baby..acted the same way with the last section...she never got excited when we went for regular vet visits..infact she had to be pulled out of the carrier.
