Sign Of A Large Litter? Trixie is on Day 42 of her pregnancy now and is huge! She has progessively continued to grow, in which I think is fast. She had small bags at day 27(not just from being in heat, but bags). And started showing(tummy wise) very soon after that. I know her exact days of breeding. She started out at 8-1/2lbs and is now 10lbs,1oz. at 42 days. I'm planning on taking her in for xrays next week so that I can be prepared, but does this seem like a large litter or just normal. She still has 3 weeks before she's due. Thanks for any advice. BTW--I have 2 due 10 days apart and they are SO totally different!

It could be a sign of a large litter, then again, it may not be. Perhaps she is holding alot of fluid, or could be the pups are larger.

She was bred to a 3lb,11oz male and his line is all small. I know there can be throw backs, but she just seems so big and miserable already. Maybe I'm just worrying too much.

I have a girl now due in a week and a half...... she was also HUGE around the 40 something day but she didn't grow much and I just took her x-ray at the vet and she is having 3. I would not due an x-ray earlier than 2 weeks for a female. It could harm the babies.... Good Luck!

Hmm...I don't know. There are several reasons...I know when (our) Trixie was carrying, she was larger and it turned out to be alot of fluid. Then days before she whelped, she got smaller, then got larger again, all in a weeks time. You'll know for sure when you get the x-rays. Good luck and be sure to keep us posted.
