of course I have never shipped yorkies being a new yorkie owner but my husband and I have shipped eight to nine week old beagle pups. They are about the size of a 4 month old yorkie. We have only had one bad experience in thirty years. That was when the puppy missed a connection and had an extra two hour layover. The new owner was going out of his mind till he called us and got the tracking number and found out where it was and when it would arrive to him. Everyone that we ship to has called us soon as they picked the puppy up and told us how the puppy looks and how he did on the flight. That is one of our requirements. All we have to do on the puppies is have a vet visit the day they ship or the day before to verify that the puppy is healthy and able to fly. On the bottom of the vet certification, it has a place for the vet to detail any medical treatment ( shots and etc) that the puppy has received and also a weather acclimation statement. They are not allowed to fly too cold or too hot. The airport checks the forecast for the destination city. Also, you have to make a reservation with the airline because only a certain amount of pets are allowed on each flight. You don't have to pay at that time tho. You also have to send a packet of food and a food and water dish if the flight is longer than six-eight hours. More than likely, they don't use it because they don't want to risk the animal getting sick in transport. We have never sent a leash but most of the airlines have that as required. Also, you must use a certain ,ind of crate. We always line the bottom of the crate with shredded newspaper. The airport will remove the dog and paper from the crate for a security check. Back around 9/11, they even checked our dogs butts to see if they had been packed with an explosive of any kind. That is the only time they have done that though. The actual cost of the shipping fee and the health certificate is what we charge. The fee we have always paid is 170. plus tax fir anywhere in the United States. The health certificate here is usually about thirty dollars.

Faith... I've been on the receiving in..I've had 4 puppies shipped within the last couple of years. All 4 came to us with no problems. I always called the breeder on my cell from the airport to let them know everything went well. The last puppy I got was older over 4 months and he didn't even act scared. I think if I was to have a puppy shipped again I would insist the puppy be older.

I've had one pup shipped to me, and have shipped two pups out to new owners over the years. Never had any problems at all. The key thing to consider when shipping a puppy is it's age and it's stage of development! Make SURE they are ready for it.
