| After The Births? So I as reading back a little to a thread about the "afterbirth" and it needs to be expelled. I have not read about "afterbirth". Is this a sac? How long should I wait before panicking? She gave birth to the last puppy at about 7:00 pm. It has been 2 hours. She has not left the puppies. I dropper-fed her some water and a few kibbles. She is now discharging a greenish/blackish fliud. Not sticky or foul. Just very "inky". Thanks! Vivian

| IMO If you're not sure if she has expelled all the afterbirth (placentas) take her to a vet for a "clean out shot".

| Thanks! I woke up in the middle of the night and she was trying to pull it out herself. I was able to pull it out and discard it. So far mom and all pups are good! Vivian

| Glad to hear she is cleaned out, as that is very important for her to get it out. In some cases it can make them deathly ill and possibly die from this. A friend of mine thought it was all out and her momma kept getting sicker and sicker, so when she got to the vet the mom was so sick they kept her and my friend had to hnd feed the pups every two hours and is still doing it weeks later. The mom dried up her milk cause she was kept at the vets for a few days and now on meds, so the pups are hand feed. And actually doing very well.
